THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Concert (OT)

Rayraz ( ) posted Sun, 22 June 2003 at 1:10 AM · edited Mon, 24 February 2025 at 10:26 AM

The concert yesterday went very well. Nice acoustics. We (me and the girl) had decided to come a little early to practise a little and that really helped us to adjust to the sound to the acoustics. During the solo I gave it all I got and according to the girl, my teacher, the conductor and the audience it sounded really good. I wasn't completely satisfied with my playing myself, but I'm a perfectionist and I notice every little detail that isn't perfect. It was good fun. It's a shame it's all done now. I'll never forget the moment we where done and the audience was applauding. We looked at each other and you could just feel the energy. She had a smile from ear to ear (and I had to try really hard not to get my face red as a tomato because of that :) We knew it was good and it was a succes. The only downside is I'm really tired right now. I just couldn't get the music out of my head and I've only been able to sleep for 2 or 3 hours.

I didn't get a recording of the concert, but several people have taped it and have it on digital video. I might be able to arrange something with one of them.

Yes, she does. I hope you get a recording from someone.

bikermouse ( ) posted Sun, 22 June 2003 at 4:01 AM

Ray, Absolutely! err . . . what's her number? - TJ

Rayraz ( ) posted Sun, 22 June 2003 at 5:08 AM

Sorry I'm not going to give her number to you. I've got enough other guys in the way already.

Ray, Well, shucks, the distance would be a problem anyway. As long as you've got her number though, perhaps you could call her and get her to talk about her playing style over say, dinner. Best of luck, - TJ

According to what you write, it has been a wonderful night. Congrats, RR!

mloates ( ) posted Sun, 22 June 2003 at 7:26 AM

Congratulations Rayraz! I think you both looked great--and would look good together :)

hyperborea ( ) posted Sun, 22 June 2003 at 8:32 AM

Congratulations on your concert RayRaz, sounds like it was a big success :-)

TheBryster ( ) posted Sun, 22 June 2003 at 9:04 AM

Rayraz: What's her name?......LOL calling her 'the girl' doesn't seem polite somehow..... Congratulations on your success. I hope you have a wonderful carear(sp) as a musician if that's your goal... The Bryster

I thought giving her name would allow people to trace her and find out what her phonenumber, e-mail, adress etc are. But you do have a point about calling her 'the girl' being impolite. I never looked at it that way. Her first name is Milena so that's how I'll call her from now on.

Sounds as if you have created a wonderful memory RR. I do wish to hear it if at all possible. Thamks for posting the pics and letting us "See" some of it.

I am so happy for you, what an achievement. It must feel so good knowing that you did well. Congrats on a job well done!

Congratulations! Just getting up in front of people was the hardest part for me. That, and tying a bow tie;)

Rayraz ( ) posted Sun, 22 June 2003 at 12:56 PM

I've been playing the violin since I was 4 years old. I've grown up standing in front of the people and making music, so I don't really have any difficulties with it. Many people don't understand how I can be so calm just before the concert. I think being very quiet and calm is my way of being concentrated instead of nervous. Tying a bow tie is something I've only tried (and failed at) once. I almost never wear one.

Congrats, Ray! And yes, you two look good together. But if she doesn't want you, I'm sure you'll look good with many other girls.

Luckily she didn't expicitly say she doesn't want me, just that she already has a boyfriend. I have the impression she thinks I'm a nice guy. So I'll stick around a little and hope I make a chance some day.

Claymor ( ) posted Sun, 22 June 2003 at 4:58 PM

I'd say you need to send her a card, maybe flowers along with it, saying how much you enjoyed preforming with her, that you felt like the two of you worked really well together...that sort of thing. Then follow that up with looking for other opportunities for the two of you to play together. The "she has a boyfriend" thing is basically a history lesson, he had first chance because he came along earlier than you did...one should never lose out because of a mere temporal disadvantage. :)

TheBryster ( ) posted Sun, 22 June 2003 at 5:44 PM

OR..you could get Milena a pc, teach her to use Bryce, introduce her to the 'Rend and chat her up on here! Just look at how well I've done chatting up Ang25 and Catlin! ..er...well...perhaps that's not a good example.... but you get the idea.....? The Bryster

LOL Bryster. Rayraz, you and Milena looked absolutely stunning in those photos. Don't push too hard too soon. Let things come naturally. Also, don't pass up any opportunities that may arise with others. Basically enjoy life and take what it gives you.

Rayraz ( ) posted Mon, 23 June 2003 at 3:16 AM

Claymor, sending flowers was exactly what I had in mind. I also offered her to learn her how to do some brycing when she asked how I made my images/artwork. She didn't really seem interested though. She isn't really into computers. She thinks computers are cool, but she doesn't really use them much except for schoolwork and e-mail.

Well done Rayraz I'm so pleased that it all went well for you and you do look good with the short hair and the beautiful girl by your side. I agree with Claymor that a good card with some good words, not pushy but complimentary, would put your ratings up a knotch or two. Girls and women do like sincere compliments, just don't make your true feelings too obvious, too soon. Best wishes Catlin With all this advice here you're bound to win her over eventually. 8)

TheBryster ( ) posted Mon, 23 June 2003 at 7:52 PM

Hey, Catlin! Did you see that squadron of flying pigs go by? Only kidding, Rayraz. Go for it! What's the worst that could happen.....she'll say no????

Yes she could always say no but you could end up with a very good lifelong friend. 8)

Ray, Thanks for sharing the photos and telling us how the concert went. Congrats on your great success. If you can get some of the music/video online that would be very cool. Perhaps you could show Milena how to use her computer to record/play music and email it to people. Lin

Rayraz ( ) posted Mon, 21 July 2003 at 9:17 AM

The guy who made the video is away on vacation at the moment, but if I get an MP3 or a movie of the concert I'll put it online somewhere. Learning Milena how to make/record/play music using the computer... That's a nice idea. I've already send her an e-mail, but she hasn't send an answer yet. I quess she's on vacation too. I haven't see or spoken to her for 4 weeks :(
