This dress has been buildt with folds. Which is the best method to obtain good clothing in poser? The folds are so dependent on the position of the character. Is it better to build smooth clothing and to try to render the folds by texture or bump map?

You can build the folds in but when the leg moves the folds don't go with it they stay in the same place but stretch.......hope that makes sense, i'd still try with that skirt though coz its to nice not to, great work......Steve

Thanks for your answer, Steve. (Nevertheless, everyone could have said "great work" but not you : I'm always and always working and studying on your models and your tutorials :))) Well I'm trying to make 17 to 19e century skirts and dresses and they have the same charateristics : drape, wrap, folds and folds. I think I will have to forget my idea to make them posable.

No No go for it I thought that on some big flared dresses but when you think about it in those days women where so strapped in tight they couldn't move anyway so any natural poses (for that era) won't spoil the folds anyway, please you gotta pose that its to good not to at least risk a try :o).........Steve

You can make it Posable. Robert Whisenant, AKA "rbtwhiz" and I have developed a new technique that will make conforming dresses (and a whole bunch of stuff) work better. We have found a way to automatically apply morphs as joints move. It works on conforming figures too. We call the whole thing Extended Morph Control. The technique you need if Conforming Morphs. as the leg of the target figure moves a morph to change the shape of the draping can be AUTOMATICALLY applied. This technique is just getting off the ground. Rob and I both have tutorials covering this on our web sites.

This is indeed exciting news! It's all a bit above my head just yet as I'm brand spanking new at this; but I'll bet it spawns a whole new wardrobe for Posette by this fall from all you talented Posette fashion designers The skirt pictured above would make an excellent choice for experimenting with this technique in an animation....especially if you could add the rustle of petticoats to the soundfile to go along with it. Dude, you've gotta post your outfits for download. As anyone can tell you, I love old style dresses. I made an awesome texture which Allie has put on a dress for everyone to see. Unfortunately I don't have THAT dress myself and am still looking for something to put my texture on. So, please post it. I don't care if the dresses you make can pose or not. I'm just getting desperate for something to put my texture on.
