Is it me or doesn't this just sound like a nice feature?

pakled ( ) posted Tue, 22 July 2003 at 9:07 PM

sounds like a CD title to me..;) could be interesting, tho..or the sequel to 'The Incredible lightness of Being..;)

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

sounds like a 327:32:00 Yes song... :) or Infinite Render-Times of the Thin White Line

danamo ( ) posted Tue, 22 July 2003 at 10:07 PM

It does sound like an album by that pretentious prog-rock band Yes.

Sounds like a math class I had, makes my head hurt oh wait that is the heat again.

All too easy, though. Try Mojoworld for this feature...

Its a title for a Surreal Picture, "Endless Displacement Mapping Of the Infinite Planes". Can I use this title for a picture?

Doublecrash ( ) posted Wed, 23 July 2003 at 1:50 PM

Hey, Yes weren't pretentious... Ok, they were. But I liked them a lot. :) S.

danamo ( ) posted Wed, 23 July 2003 at 3:17 PM

Yes Stefano, I confess that I liked them too! Hell, I even liked Emerson, Lake & Palmer!:)

Odiemanc ( ) posted Wed, 23 July 2003 at 4:28 PM

The application can already do this with water, why not terrain? I'd lose the Mapping part for use as a tile. "Endless Dissplacement of the Infinite Planes..." Thank you very much! You may use it, but don't ever get in my way!

I didn't get anything but a few of the 70's Yes, had more Genesis and ELP than Yes (saw them in Concert about 2 and 21 years ago..same 'ol same ol..;)

Hmm, do you folks mean Volumetric Slabs?

tjohn ( ) posted Thu, 24 July 2003 at 8:01 AM

Yes' pretentiousness was nicely balanced out with their extreme musical talent.

No not the volumetric slabs, I do'nt think its all that easy to render one appearing all the way up through the entire horizon.

deci6el ( ) posted Thu, 24 July 2003 at 8:42 PM

Yes, but first they were "attemptuous". They were actually making the effort to make something of value. As more bands found that a miss good be as good as a hit without all the work, it got very "pretentious" in a Spinal Tap kind of way. Out of reaction, Punk and New Wave became the pride of being, well, lets just say "unpolished". Perhaps looped displacement might be more accurate since it is being tiled. Yes, why not?

deci6el ( ) posted Thu, 24 July 2003 at 8:44 PM

Could! "a miss could be as good as a hit"

I must admit I saw Yes when I was a young teenager, I think it was the Relayer tour. They had all the Roger Dean stage props like the spider like thing that opened up to reveal Rick Wakeman and his synths. I also had all the Roger Dean posters for Yes and I've still got a few of his books on his artwork. Catlin
