Subject: depressed about compression

I'm trying to make Poser anims with video backgrounds (captured on a pinnacle DC 10) - then edit them in MediaStudio Pro. Problem: how to avoid all the re-compressions. Outputting uncompressed frames in Poser creates huge files. Any advice or directions to other posts appreciated.

You are really better off using the uncompressed files, in spite of their size. An inexpensive solution: get another hard drive. The prices keep dropping, you can probably pick up an IDE 10G drive for about a hundred or so. Everything costs money. A new drive is probably a good investment. Or get a CDR and put the big Poser files there. Also getting quite reasonable in price.

I'm afraid you're right about going uncompressed. I've been looking at a 7200rpm, 30 gig Maxtor with 2meg cache for under $200. (as an aside I just got epson 1200x2400 scanner - an 8.5 by 11 scan at 9600 interpolated resolution will take a full 25.7 gigabits for one pic!!! Guess I won't be making any of those. And I'm sad to say I'm not bongosarong.
