I like this more, although the light is strange... :)

I have a similar shot of this statue :)) But I like most the other one.. Simply because I think the pose of the sculpture is better in the other one :)) BTW.. the shot is technically great..

What I like is the triangular waving... sword, arm.. reflection of arm and sword on the body.. leg bendedon knees and till the feet. I like the module :) That's why I prefer this one. ;)

Oh! :) But U are AN ARTIST... :)))) I have'nt noticed this :)

gallimel ( ) posted Fri, 25 July 2003 at 9:53 AM

stop it ;) You know I am not, I never was, and I never will :) I just know principles of artistic composition. To have an eye who can reckon art, doesn't mean to be an artist :) and that's my case :) I know principles, but my way to apply them is derivative :) I am a scientist , not an artist ;)

Well.. if U are a scientist, I am an engineer.. then? What are we doing here??? :)))) LOL

you are an engeneer. also Leonardo was.. he was also an artist, as you ar. But I ma not ;) I am just a scholar (a writer, a sociologue, a soon psychologue.. a mess, too ;)...:P) but never an artist (you know this can't end cos I am also not gonna chnage my mind on this won't you? the reason people think I am an artist is because they have no real experience of what's art. Because I am blonde, and because I am "popular". Not a single real reason to tip ANY that I do as art ;). What I do, real artists would so in a tenth of my time, with ten times better results ;)

I do not agree.

It's no use. You cannot reason with her. Even though she IS an artist. If you pick up a pencil, paintbrush, etc. of you own free will, enjoy painting or drawing with it, recognizable or not ITS ART! She enjoys all forms of it so much to inspire her to do it herself, a scientist would only to the previous. She obviously right brained, that is why the paintings take longer, and she's analytical. I've seen a red dot in an art museum, and that person is considered an artist. Ask anybody but Meli and you'll get that same answer.

Hmmm... Okay, the composition of this one is maybe more 'artistically composed', but I really like the softness of the shadows in the previous one... I'm not saying I prefer one or the other: they are different, they convey different feelings... As to the 'artist' thing, well, as a linguistics student I can tell you that everything is a question of labelling... If a label is widely accepted, then the label works and convey a meaning... Since there seem to be a wide number that label you as an artist, people understand the meaning of the word 'artist' when referred to you, so you ARE an artist, like it or not ;)

Eh eh eh... I have powerful allied, now.. It's a nonsense to resist, my poor little jedi ;)

gallimel ( ) posted Sun, 27 July 2003 at 1:06 AM

Still resist Maybe because I prefer to watch art and enjoy it than not bother myself to try to make it. I love to be a scientist. An hobby is an hobby. I could never even try to make anything serious here, I like to learn technique because I like to express concepts through images, but this doesn't make me any different from a writer of advertising, or a pr for whateverproject you gotta make noticed by people. You can't think all expressions people make and show are art...test of time tells what's art. This I do it's just a game to me, to use my spare time when my friends are not around to take me out and go and talk, and.. it has to remain this. Then you know: I am elitist about art.For me, it is around an artist out from 100000 that think they are so. imagine where I could put myself, being this my way to look at things. No.. simply no way. no way that i will ever change idea ;)
