Anybody knows where i can get a WW2 G.I. helmet? Working on my private ryan figs and still couldn't model the helmet in dream3d. will post some of my stuff soon though e.g. foldable spade, m1 garand, pina grenades.

If you can't find one I'll model one for you in Rhino , as long as you can gimme reference pics or links to visuals so I may be as accurate as possible.

I've done quite a number of WW2 renderings with a Ryan theme, so if you like do a search under Jon in the gallery and take a look if maybe that's what you are looking for.

Hey PJF that's one heck of a site. I especially love how Indy gets mixed up with the germans no matter where he's at! 8o) Looks like I may not even need to model the helmet now.

There is a German helmet that I made on http://www.buckrogers.demon.co.uk/3d/gh.zip . It has a texture map, so you can put your own color patterns and logos on it. It is a Poser model (not a prop). It has an (anachronistic) posable riotsquad visor, but you can delete or hide this if you don't want it. See http://www.buckrogers.demon.co.uk/3d/spmanfl6.jpg for 2 men wearing it.

If you make the GI helmet, please post it. It might be useful to zip all your GI kit abovementioned together in one zip file so people can download it all in one click. I made my helmet model by measuring a real one (a plastic film prop copy) and writing a Gnu C++ program to output the .OBJ mesh file complete with uv lines. To get the shape right, I waited until the sun was low and used it to project the helmet against a door and traced the shadow on a piece of paper.
