Subject: Brand new 3D mag gives away FULL version of BRYCE 3D

STORM3 ( ) posted Tue, 04 July 2000 at 5:53 PM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 12:04 PM

A brand new international 3D graphics magazine, 3Dworld, is giving away a full version of Bryce 3D with its first issue. It looks like it is going to be a fantastic magazine as it is published by the same people (Future Publishing Ltd) who produce Computer Arts Magazine and has a very similar layout, style and quality. I just bought it, but if it is not on sale in your neck of the woods go to www.3Dworldmag.com For anyone using just Poser and wondering about the rendering possibilities of Bryce, here is your chance for free. Apologies in advance for posting this in a few forums here, but it is not everyday an offer like this comes around. STORM

Good news, but no restrictions like 30 days or so ? SHARKEY

BTW This version of Bryce 3D is for Mac AND PC (so the CD cover insert says) and there are also 15 free Viewpoint Digital meshes included on the CD and a fully poseable Lightwave model of a skeleton by Spydaman Studios. STORM

Sharkey it appears to be the real thing, there is a registration serial No. included for the program and a special offer to upgrade to Bryce 4 for 82.24 ($110/110??). I already have Bryce 4, so I will not be trying out this one. It may be that Corel are trying to light a fire under sales figures by giving B3 away, anyway the magazine is worth getting for its own sake. STORM

Hey Storm You have forget to say the meshes are downloadabble on their site as lwo- and dxf-files. Damned, have to go to a business-trip and don't have the time to search the mag. Hopefully find one at friday on Zurich-Airport near my home-village in switzerland. SHARKEY

Storm, You forgot to mention the .obj and .dxf files in the other folders on the CD. In total, there are over 60 models on this CD. Well worth the money for Bryce alone, but with these, it's a steal. Pugwash

Thanks Pugwash, I haven't even run the CD yet. STORM

That's how I got Bryce 2. It was on one of their earlier magazines, full program, no time limit. Only difference, was that I think maybe there were a few sky presets left out, but there were a good number of them still there. It was a wonderful way to try it out. I also got my trueSpace 2 that way, full unlimited copy. I search for these mags every month, hoping to find the full products of programs I want to try. Quite a find. Melanie

... a full version of Bryce 3D with its first issue ... Which version? Is it #3 with the bugs, or #3.1 with the corrections, or what?

Pugwash ( ) posted Wed, 05 July 2000 at 4:01 AM

Anthony, It is version 3.0 Pugwash

I hope they've incorporated the 3.1 patch for 3.0. Otherwise the unsuspecting are in for a real treat:) manowar

You will need to update that free Bryce package to 3.1, but apparently the update works fine, so no worries.

its a great offer for Brycers..it will expand Bryce's exposure...but I have some reservations as to the validity of the mag in claiming to be "experts". for instance, the site for the mag has a "questions" area..and it discusses Bryce in one of those... there is a major oversight in this discussion and it's supposed to be by an "expert". I personally have never heard of this "expert". I don't claim to know everyone who knows Bryce, but this oversight is one that "the least kid on the place" knows..so an "expert" would definitely know it. I asked in the Bryce Forum and no one has answered the "fo-pah" at the mag site..surprised me btw, but many may think Im attacking the mag..not so...just saying that a mag that says "we are experts" does not constitute such. anyhow, I'm subscribing because I want a mag like this...I just hope they get their facts straight before they release any more "expert" tutorials on Bryce (or any program) BT

the .obj and .dxf files in the other folders on the CD. In total, there are over 60 models on this CD. What objects are they models of?

STORM3 ( ) posted Wed, 05 July 2000 at 8:24 AM

The patch is still available see my post above "HOT NEWS". STORM

brycetech ( ) posted Wed, 05 July 2000 at 8:42 AM

before someone asks the patch 3.1 does exactly what this whole tutorial is about and like I said...almost everyone (except the new) would know it exists BT
