Subject: Sarah Spriteling - Any Opinions?

fauve ( ) posted Fri, 25 July 2003 at 3:57 PM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 12:30 PM

Has anyone bought the new Sarah Spriteling product from the premier section over at DAZ? It looks pretty interesting, and I'd like to get some opinions on it.

It's a great package with so many options. A great package for just a different V3 or a manga like or fairy character. And with just one click you have a little V3. And you can make any clothing fit on this little beauty

fauve ( ) posted Fri, 25 July 2003 at 4:20 PM

Thanks, dolfijntjes! I appreciate the info. I didn't realize this package was by Wyrmmaster... I've always been happy with anything I bought from him, and your description settles it. Gonna buy this. :-)

rasputina ( ) posted Fri, 25 July 2003 at 5:12 PM

oh my goodness, she is such a sweet character, you can make her so tiny and the clothes and hair as well..she's a gem.

fauve ( ) posted Fri, 25 July 2003 at 5:51 PM

Wow, she is! :-) So much fun to play with... she looks very different to the default V3, and it's so easy to get any clothes to fit her perfectly. Another great Wyrmmaster joint!

Blazerwiccan ( ) posted Fri, 25 July 2003 at 7:29 PM

Ohh I want that pack. Wow killer chracter for sure. Ok have to save up for Sarah Spriteling inless I can talk anyone into getting her for me lol :P I totally love her face how sweet.

JVRenderer ( ) posted Fri, 25 July 2003 at 8:03 PM

I've bought that pack, but I haven't installed it yet. I've almost all of Wyrmmaster's products and am very satisfied with them. I like his products because they make great comic characters. JV

One leeeeeeeeetle problem. The INJ pose file for the character uses the old method of calling the file in the Pose library to call the injector instead of directly. Sigh. Since the update to V3 I've been able to rename and move those pesky folders but now I can't INJ the Sarah Spriteling morphs.

Momcat ( ) posted Fri, 25 July 2003 at 9:41 PM

That should be fixed soon.

here she is, the clothes conformed perfectly, very little touchup needed.

LaurieA ( ) posted Sat, 26 July 2003 at 2:23 AM

Spit, load the mags from the props folder first before you use anything for Sarah in the Poser folders. I couldn't figure out why the morphs weren't working at first either. But if you load the mags first, then all the poses work :o). Hope that helps. Laurie

Spit ( ) posted Sat, 26 July 2003 at 7:01 AM

Thanks Laura...No, the problem was I couldn't inject the face morphs. So I opened the pz2 in wordpad as a reference for which morphs to inj and injected them manually. Neat little package. She can now play with the teeeeny Mike over at PoserStyle. LOL.

Spit ( ) posted Sat, 26 July 2003 at 7:26 AM

Laurie. Laurie. Laurie. I know you're name is Laurie. Sorry, LOL.

I think she is beautiful. It is so easy to get anything to fit her even if the clothing geometry doesn't have enough morphs in it. I also think she has a really unique and interesting face.

Momcat ( ) posted Sat, 26 July 2003 at 9:33 AM

That's why I love Wyrmmaster's sets so much. I find them much easier to work with than body morphs. It doesn't hurt that I'm particularly fond of these stylistic body types either. I wish he'd do a deco style as well, with streamlined hips, lean legs, and barely there chest. I also wish there was a way to get the clothes and shoes to fit properly on the elongated legs. I wonder if it's the joint parameters? If that's he case, couldn't a pose be made for the clothing to fix that? I love your avatar btw...she's your main promo girl here, right? She has such a sweet face, and I love her thick blonde waves. >^_^< What outfit is that?

fauve ( ) posted Sat, 26 July 2003 at 11:04 AM

The Sarah character has some nice "streamlined" settings, Momcat... this is with the Elfling body, breasts set to 0. (0 here apparently being the equivalent of "smaller" or "normal", compared to Wyrmmaster's other top-heavy girls. :-> )

It's really nice to be able to load any V3 outfit and get it to fit her with just a click. I've been playing around with customizing the magnets, too, to give her a slightly bigger scale (petite normal woman), rounder hips and thighs, and more proportional arms and legs. I'm still working on that, but customizing the body shape by changing the magnet settings is really suprisingly easy, even for a magnet idiot like me.

Momcat ( ) posted Sat, 26 July 2003 at 1:01 PM

Very nice. I'll have to try that >^_^

LaurieA ( ) posted Sat, 26 July 2003 at 1:09 PM

Sorry Spit ;o). I keep forgetting that you can move folders and such with P5 and/or PBooost (I have neither). I see what you are saying now. It calls for a morph in a folder in it's ORIGINAL location and when the folders have been moved, it can't find it. Correct? You have to manually edit the path in the pose file? Forgive me if I seem stupid-I'm still trying to learn the technical guts of how Poser actually works ;o). Laurie

Spit ( ) posted Sat, 26 July 2003 at 3:00 PM

Yeah, that'll work, Laurie. But the deal is this. When Vicky 3 first came out, any faces, or any of the 'ALL' injection pose files, called pz2 files in the !V3 pose folders to do the injection. This meant that you couldn't move or rename those folders. But the only thing these called files do is turn around and call the scripts in the new !DAZ folder.

Sooooo the latest V3 update eliminates the middle man, so to speak. Now if you inject 'ALL head morphs', for example, it calls directly to the stuff in the !DAZ folder instead of to other pz2 files. So you can rename and move all 27 of those folders.

IPB (Injection Pose Builder) works on the same principle, and creates INJ files that call directly to the !DAZ folder.

Changing the pz2 for this though is very picky work for the new way. Not only do you have to change the 'call' but you also have to put stuff in there to unhide the dials. I gave up after a few minutes. I'd rather be Posin'. ;-)

BTW, all these renders are fantastic!! I'm so glad I got this!

Puntomaus ( ) posted Sun, 27 July 2003 at 3:24 AM

I've bought her too yesterday and the package is very nice and I like the option to change the clothes and her hair that it fits her. And the Elfling has a very cute little face :-). But the Morinjection pose should be updated. I edited it manually and now it works fine. I have P5 and I am using sub-sub-subfolders to store everything. Since there is an update available at DAZ for V3 that takes care of this problem I cannot understand why this file is set up the old way.

wyrmmaster ( ) posted Sun, 27 July 2003 at 8:39 PM

Sorry about the injection morphs. I thought DAZ did that for a technical reason, so that's why I did it. I hate products that dictate file structures, just like I hate products that don't seperate bump maps from textures. I have been trying to publish the fix all day. Having REAL problems with the witches and wyrms website!! Anyway, the fix at my homepage under downloads. http://www.renderosity.com/homepage.ez?Who=wyrmmaster I'll see if DAZ can post it on thier site.

wyrmmaster ( ) posted Sun, 27 July 2003 at 8:52 PM

I have to say one more thing. I really appreciate what you guys are saying about Sarah Spriteling. I work VERY hard developing each dynamic deformer kit. They have to be typed in manually because poser does simply save the correct information. (Hardly an "artistic" process.) But seeing my stuff in the hand of other artists is like a songwriter listing to musicians playing his music. I know this is sappy stuff but I am a bit overwhelmed by your comments. I don't normally read the forums, but EVERY ONE OF YOU can feel free to IM me or send Email to wyrmmaster@witchesandwyrms.com. I try VERY hard to make products that are fun and easy to use. I reply to all e-mail and your questions make every product better. I have answered e-mail about how to open a ZIP file. I thought it was kinda fun. DON'T HESITATE TO ASK!!! And sometimes get you free updates like this one! I would also like to thank momcat for pointing this forum out to me.
