I am considering buying Carrara 2.0 but before i invest money in the program I fist would like to know Poser can be imported into the program correct? Also are you able to import the poser mtl files that come with the obj files into the program so you can have your textures already on the figure?

well, C3 is on its way out in little over a month... so things are in flux. C2 is not easy to import Poser objs to, but it is possible. I have a technique for it that I've written up in this forum, there are additional things I keep discovering along the way too. But all may be moot once P5 comes out for the Mac, word on the street is that there will be a plugin for Poser (most likely Poser 5) to Carrara announced shortly after the Mac release...

What type of trouble do you have with Poser and C2? I've had no trouble whatsoever importing P4 .objs into Carrara. In fact, the ease of it surprised me!

oh, they import. But there are some issues in importing some props, and also items with high polycount. Transparency often gives people fits, too. But all in all, its not any harder than importing to Bryce, from the Brycers I talk to.

Ah. I see. Thanks for the clarification.

what about the textures do they import with the obj file?

mostly, not all the way. But if you go to www.castironflamingo.com, download the utility 'babel' to gather your texture files from a pz3 file. Also check out his Carrara tutorial (he uses Grouper, but you don't have to use Grouper if you use my method) the correct recipe for hair transparency is on his site.
