Not being able to finish the "Evening tide" wip got me down a bit this morning but I stuck it onto my gallery anyway and, what do you know, it`s gone into the Hot 20 at number 12 just a few hours later. I don`t know whether to laugh or cry. :o) Anyway, decided to use up the leftovers and stuff on a quick pic, and this is it, another view of the dock. I was thinking of using it for this months challenge but so far I`ve only managed the roof of the inn. So I probably won`t. BTW, this pic is also making my PC really struggle, so I guess it`s those Poser figures.

Woohoo! there's still hope for the rest of us!! j/k Looks awesome, i love the details. Maybe work a bit on the sky, make it look a little less flat.

Very nice! And you call this "leftovers"?

Sambucus, Have you thought about putting a well in the square? exellent render! - TJ

Somebody else was taking about making Poser people into 2d images to cut down on file size. You might want to search the forum for that discussion. Your other pic deserved the recognition it got, be proud. This one is looking good too. Lin

BTW: check out Gerald Day(Poser Forum): I think he has some lowres figures for use in backgrounds on his website. Might help with the memory usage.

Sambucus your work is always stunning so please let us into the secret of how you manage to put images like this together in a couple of hour or a couple of days? Amazed I am. Catlin 8)

I would like to know how to do skies like that...damn that is awesome! MD

Sambucus ( ) posted Mon, 28 July 2003 at 7:16 PM

Catlin, I cant take any credit for the actual models, the buildings are Zippys, (whatever happened to him, I used to look forward to his models?), and the sloop in the other picture was Sam Samuels, along with a load of other poser and 3ds freebies whose creators I have forgotten. I just arrange them. I spend an hour or two on the poser figures using grouper and put them all into a folder and then just pop them on one by one. And when I say a day, I generally mean all day. Unemployment helps, LOL. Maddog, same with the skies. This one is Eagleeye by Zero Tolerance, one of my favourite sky makers. I just twidled the knobs a bit. I think 2d figures may be the way to go. These Poser figures seem to kill my machine. And Bikermouse, I was thinking it needed something in the middle, like a monument or statue, but a well is worth thinking about too. The problem with lores figures is that most of the interesting clothing, (mine comes from Poserstyle and Poserworld,) is made for Mike and Vikki and theyre a bit heavy for background stuff but you`ve got to use them. get half a dozen mil figures in there and I guess you get slowdown. Thanx for all the feedback.

catlin_mc ( ) posted Mon, 28 July 2003 at 7:19 PM

Zero Tolerance made the best mats, but for the past few months all his stuff for D/L has broken links. It would be great if I could get access to them again. Catlin

bikermouse ( ) posted Tue, 29 July 2003 at 12:33 AM

Sambucus, Yeah I thought about the clothing too. You might be able to talk to Gerald see if he has any suggestions in that regard; and at the distance they're at the fit wouldn't have to be absolutely perfect . . . but as you say there's always 2d.

croowe ( ) posted Tue, 29 July 2003 at 9:39 AM

I was wondering about those models, they are excellent. Then you mentioned Zippy and I was wondering why I never heard of him/her. I did a search and found out all the models are poser and there are some incredible models there to be had. Damn it, I dont have Poser to convert them into a usable bryce format. Any body know if crossroads can do the conversion to a usable bryce format.

bikermouse ( ) posted Tue, 29 July 2003 at 12:55 PM

croowe, No a cr2 can't be converted that way. If there is a way to do it ockham, nerd, bloodsong or Ajax (Poser Forum) might know of it. But if you don't want to learn a whole lot about cr2 files and avoid other potential problems your best bet and the least time consuming would be to save up and buy a copy of Poser 4. - TJ

You're #1 right now, Sam... and it's well deserved! And this "spin-off" image is on the same quality-level.
