Subject: need help with turning my line art to a transparency

what's the easiest way to take a black and white line art and get rid of the white so I can put it over my colorings... beside using the magic wand tool

Eliminate It!
These filters are especially useful for black and white line art when you need to isolate just the white or black pixels on a layer.

you can also change the blend mode of the black and white line art to "multiply". This basically impacts the white pixels and ignores the black ones... just make sure it's on the layer "above" your colorings layers.
