Hi all, I'm thinking of joining DAZ's Platinum Club. Are people still experiencing a lot of gremlins with purchasing Platinum Club goodies ? ..... I recall that there were recently some long threads on this forum with PC members just about tearing their hair out .... regards, Andrew

I have never had any problems as a PC member when buying or downloading. :) May my good luck continue ;)

I don't recall any serious glitches--then on the other hand, I avoided purchasing any items during the period when the store was undergoing changes. If I see a bunch of folks reporting problems here in the forum, I just sit on my credit card and wait until I see something from DAZ saying that the store is working again :)

DAZ has unfortunately had a history of difficulties with the store on holiday weekends .... Buy stuff on Monday grin ...we tend to slam their servers pretty hard and break stuff snicker

Have had all combinations of problems, but they are generally getting smoothed out...PayPal has a funny quirk or two but generally things are working relatively well these days. I agree...don't order on the weekend if you want immediate gratification.

Don't use the Paypal option - get a paypal debit card and use it instead. Takes your paypal money but you get your download immediately - that's what I use all the time for DAZ now.

I just joined up yesterday, bought a bunch of stuff, and everything went just fine, EXCEPT: I used the $5 voucher I got for signing up, and while the discount shows on my account page, it wasn't on the e-mail receipt. So... did they credit me properly or not? If they end up charging my card the extra $5, I'm going to be extremely pissed. Should I believe the e-mail and contact them, or does the fact that it's correct on my account page mean I'm ok? Also, I know you can't get the 30% off brokered items, but what about the stuff that says "Created by", such as Michael Lane's Hatchling Dragon or whatever? It says you can use vouchers, but what about the PC discount? I'm guessing yes, but I just wanted to make sure.

I've never had any problems....and geez, I never thought of using my PayPal debit card...thanks for the Tip!

x2000, The PC discount is supposed to apply to anything which is not listed as being brokered. In the case of items made by Michael Lane, it can be slightly confusing, because he brokered for DAZ for a long time before he on the production team as a regular employee. If the item says "DAZ Original" or something to that effect, the discount is supposed to apply. If you have problems, a polite e-mail or call to customer service will probably see the issue resolved very nicely. You might want to call VISA or your bank regarding how much you were actually charged. I don't like PayPal for a variety of reasons, some of which have been in the news lately. They appear to be inefficient. I've contacted them several times regarding an outdated card number, but it still keeps coming up as my primary card number in spite of my attempts to get it removed from my account. That sort of thing doesn't cultivate trust. There are some independent merchants who only accept PayPal. Otherwise, I advise against it when different payment options are available.

I've never had any problems with Platinum purchases. It's well worth the money and I'll be renewing when my membership expires. Melanie

xoconstle - I've been using Paypal for over 4 years and only had a problem once - looooong before they were bought out by ebay. I haven't heard of any recent problems either - do you have some links I can read? I'd appreciate it. AS for your credit card issue - in order to have a premium/business account you have to have a credit card on file. So if you are removing one without adding a new one that can be a problem. I added my new card and then made it my default card before removing the old one and it worked fine. My main complaint with them is a recent one - I used to be able to pull money directly from my bank account and now it won't let me do that - only does an echeck and I'm not sure why. No big deal though as I only rarely transfer from Paypal to my bank account anyhow.

I haven't had any problems with the Platinum Club so far. The only thing I recall being discossed is when they changed the store software: The PC discount didn't show up until the purchase was done and people thought that they didn't get it. DAZ changed that so that the store indicates the discount earlier in the checkout process. They also lost most of the PC members from their database when the new store software was implemented, but that was corrected very fast! They knew who we were, it was just the new software that didn't ;-)

Hi All, Just filling in for Steve Kondris here while he's at Siggraph. x2k: The voucher should be subtracted from your purchase, if you find out differently from your credit card company please let me know. I will try to have the Order Confirmation email adjusted to reflect the vouchers The fastest way to know if an item is a brokered item or not is to look at the "Brokered by" tag on the product page. If it says ANYTHING other than "Brokered By SOMEGUY (or SOMEGAL)" than it's a DAZ Original. Please note that with the new promotions in the Platinum Club some vouchers, most importantly the $5 voucher Platinum Monthly Subscribers get every month, will not work on Platinum Club items. These are rewards toward the Regular priced items that DAZ releases including the upcoming Michael 3.0. This is from another thread, but FWIW the $30 voucher renewing annual members will receive will also be for regular priced items. If you recall all the regular and platinum discounts that added up when Victoria 3.0 and Mimic 2.0 were released, $30 off a DAZ Original can go a long way... Lastly, in case anyone asks, you won't be able to sign up for a new membership until tomorrow (7/31) while we get ready for... almost spilled the beans there. Keep watching. I have been a PC member for about a month now and have had no problems at all either. To answer x2000's question, when I used my voucher one of the e-mails did list the full order total but I was charged the correct amount. I think in the second e-mail and definitely on my order info screen it showed the amount I had been charged which was minus the voucher amount. I have absolutely no regrets about going Platinum Club.

x2000 ( ) posted Wed, 30 July 2003 at 6:00 PM

Thanks for the answers everyone. Special thanks to AkoSteve for jumping in. That's what I was wondering, if anyone else had the same experience with e-mail not being entirely accurate. I'd hate to think I was the only one.;) Aside from that, I haven't had any trouble at all, and while I'm not one of the "Daz can do no wrong"-type zombies that haunt the forums, I have to say that the Platinum Club is a hell of a deal and I recommend it highly, especially with the new pricing system. I mean, pay the $30, buy Anton's Spywear set for $1.99 (regularly $40), and you've already saved some money even if you don't buy anything else (and you will, oh, you WILL...LOL)!

Ooohh! Ryan, you've got me intrigued. Sounds like something big is about to happen! :) Melanie
