Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 11 8:37 pm)
Well, as it says so in the TOS you're supposed to read when you join Rosity, I don't think it would make much of a difference if it was on top of the forum as well. Actually I think the top of the forum is too cluttered as is... I know they do it in the MAX forum, but... it's so MESSY to look at imo. People who doesn't read the TOS won't care about "no warez" warnings either. Oh and all those "in my country all software is warez"... LOL Honestly I am not even sure that all of those people even REGARD their softwarez as warez ...

Well for starters if someone is requesting warez, they are a thief and should be booted out of here. Some claim they didn't know they weren't supposed to ask...IMO that makes them a dumb thief. Sorry for the bluntness...diplomacy was never my strong point.
My idea of rebooting is kicking somebody in the butt twice!
I've argued this point before, rockets, but I'll do it again. Some people may not realize what they are doing is wrong. They are not neccessarily "dumb", but more "uneducated" in the computer world. It's the same type of people who download tons of music files, never knowing that it is wrong. I've heard of a 60+ year old woman downloading music because someone sent her Kazaa. It just never occurred to her that it might be wrong. When someone told her, she was horrified. That's one of the reasons I'd love to see a message up front, and also like to see the moderators post a "Warez is wrong, etc. statement before locking a thread. I would rather educate a person than just send him somewhere else to find the answers without ever hearing the truth. So maybe it only applies to 1 in 10 or even 1 in 100. Wouldn't it be worth it for that one person? I believe so.
I applaud you for your patience ookami, but I find it very hard to believe that people who know enough about Poser to ask where they can get it for free, don't already know that it costs money. I just don't understand their nerve in even asking about it.

But poser can be got for free legally & that's part of the problem. I have in my collection a copy of all 5 versions, 1/2/3 all coming from magazines so people grabbing these may incorrectly assume the latest version will also be free. It gets even more confusing with the figures some are free (Eve) some you have to pay for (vicky1/2/3) it's only by asking "dangerous warez" questions that people will find out what is & isn't free. What we need is a list of all the figures available & where to get them / how much they cost. Any volunteers for that little task?
Minor point of interest, but slightly OT. Apparently many warez sites are quite legal, because they don't actually have anything at all for download. All they have is a blizzard of pop-ups advertising various dubious sites, that will so overload your browser you will never find out what the content of the so-called warez site actually is.
How about " PFRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTPLBLPLBLPBLRRT "?

Let the mods deal with warezs requests ..we've gotten pretty good at sorting out the 'don't know any better' from the 'know and don't care' crowd. We do everything reasonably possible to prevent it .. in fact thats why I lurk in this forum all day. Just let me know when you see one here, or in chat (if in chat make sure you send the name and approximate time/date). In this last little episode, all five threads were started by the same person, and some in response to remarks made by the members here. So we really don't have a flood of warez requests ..just one very persistant one rolls eyes thanks for the concern guys! Lyrra the Overworked
.........just a suggestion, and I've suggested it once (a while back).....maybe make it mandatory to read the TOS by turning your application into a test of whether or not you've read the TOS. Random, REQUIRED fields that you have to answer correctly........ Just a thought!! Shadow

Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it
into a fruit salad.
My suggestion is thus: don't reply or even acknowledge warez requests. I'm sure that some people do it simply for the attention and the responses it gets. Don't reply; no "I made it in before it was locked", nothing. Let the mods get to it in due time and take care of it the proper way. Just my $.02.
How about this 'one liner' on top of the forum - "Requests for serial numbers or other warez can result in loss of account. You have been warned!" Parked right on top of the forum it's right out in the open where everyone can see it so the lamearse excuse "I didn't know" will be even lamer the it already is (if that's possible)
Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.
Warez or piracy in its' purest form is with us everywhere...who has not been guilty of taping a favorite movie or TV show, grabbing a favorite song from the radio on their tape recorder? Basically it is all one and the same if taken in the light of copyright infringement as far as I am concerned. I am not condoning warez but I can not see warnings putting a stop for requests. Sometimes these people get lucky and someone will read their post and actually send them the files they are looking for. And to them that chance is worth the risk of asking. Way to stop the posts? How about a filter....anything with the actual word 'warez' is stopped? We will come up with an alternate term to substitute for warez [BS? BudgetSoftware..LOL] when we want to refer to warez. Only in program code filtering will ever eliminate the thing entirely.
ok ok....everybody!! i know is bad to ask or have warez...i don't but it seems a little childish talking about" throw tomatoes and exile him from this land" attitude...we are not in the middle ages!!! c'mon "spam him with mail" burn him in a stake for beign an infidel!!! c'mon people, we're more mature than that!!!! warez is a reallity and we're all gonna have to deal with that sometime.....when a program is released theres 50 people trying to crack the serial already......if you have the original keep it to yourself...the others......F%#@Ck them!!!! who cares!!!! i bought poser 5 and i'm not a pro??!! i'm not even getting paid for doing 3d stuff....so what??!! its for my PERSONAL enjoyment...and if someone else downloaded it from kazaa for free...well its THEIR own problem!!! besides......back in the day they used to say that you cannot make a copy oy a cassete......well...hhuumm mp3.....we all have them..... and believe me...i'm not feeling guilty for getting them for free.....maybe downloading it will take some dollars from the record company that pays kid rock for his limo and his $1110000000 house in la...........just a thought....

Sorry for the antagonist title but I knew it would grab attention. Is there something we can do to head off the recent proliferation of warez requests? Could we put something at the top of the forum... perhaps under the forum graphic warning users not to request warez? Just a suggestion.
