Subject: Can we save .PZ2s with Python Yet. Looking for Partial Pose Script

Odiemance ( ) posted Mon, 28 July 2003 at 6:13 PM ยท edited Thu, 13 February 2025 at 3:30 PM

I'm looking for a Python to write .pz2 files with only certain body parts included, or to erase parts from existing .pz2s. Ockham mentioned that the problem he was having is that he could'nt get Python to actually write a .pz3 or .pz2. Has anyone overcome this obstacle? It'd be great to see a Python Script that had a control panel with all of a Figures parts with a check box next to each. Then you could just select which parts you want to include. Partial posing would never be easyer! I've tested this form of posing and found it is very handy to recycle gestures in this form. How about .txt files, can Python at least write those? Then the user could just change the extension. Any replies will be appreciated!

I'm working on something like that, but I'm just starting out in Python so it could be a while before I finish.

The problem most have been something else (like there isn't access to something he needs through python). Python can write ascii files (which pz3/pz2 are -- see the MatFile_gui.py python script on my home page).

I think Ockham was talking about SaveLibraryPose(). Writing ASCII text files with any name is easy in Python, I wrote several exporters using that technique.

"It'd be great to see a Python Script that had a control panel with all of a Figures parts with a check box next to each. Then you could just select which parts you want to include" Poser already has this ability. Just click the Select Subset button when saving the pose.

Jackson - It does, wow! I hav'nt noticed this though. I save poses all the time, the only options I see notice are the Single Frame Multi Frame radio toggles. Mind expanding a liitle more on how this procedure is accomplished, maybe a screenshot real quick or something maybe? markdc - Thanks! I'm going to mention this to Ockham. BTW, I think there is a link error for the Download button of V2 of this script. It is linked to your homepage, instead of the document. = )

It is linked to your homepage, instead of the document. The actual link is at the bottom of my homepage. -Mark

Thank you Sir! I've not noticed it there, I'm very pleased to see this has been afforded. I'll be making much use of this in the future!
