file_69412.jpg

I had posted this yesterday, but it never showed up. Let's start again.

I have promised to BillyGoat to show his image here for the following reason: He wanted to participate to our challenge, but as he was working as a volunteer at
Renderositys booth at Siggraph, he missed the time limit and has posted it when we already started to vote.

It's a pitty, because this one too was a very beautiful WAVE image:-)

Very nice! The sand actually looks like sand! and the wave looks great too. P.S. Guitta, could you spare few minutes and give me a small tut on how you made those beautiful waves, in your free wave scene? pls. :-)

I am going to post this to the gallery in a day or so. I owe most of this to SittingBlue - gave me a lot of his time answering lots of questions. I'm pleased that he will be able to see what I did with his answers.

Nish, the downloadable file is already a tutorial itself. Open each terrain in the terrain editor and you can see how there were made. I have created greyscale bitmaps in Corel, sort of sprinkles with an airbrush. I have opened this bitmap in the terrain editor (first click RESET, then click PICTURE to open) and mapped with the material you can see:-) Hope this helps. Guitta
