Can someone tell me about bump maps? What color is raised and what is indented?

bump maps are in black and white aka grayscale to give texture to materials. White is height and black is flat. So if your texture is for an orange then take the texture map template for the orange and make the bacjground black and the orange fill white spopts for bumpy texture for the skin and black for no raised texture. Hope this helps. Lilmikee

heyas; also, if you happen to end up with a wrong-way-round greyscale map, you can use poser's bump strenth setting to make it -100%, or inverted.

Thanks. Perhaps you guys can help me with another thing? Why is it that when I use the UVMapper on say..the formal dress..it comes out all wrong no matter which way I orientate it? When I do it right-side-up the v-shape at the hip is all the way up at the chest. What's going on with that??
