THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: OT Plea for help with PS!

Hey guys, I'm severely in need of QUICK help with Photoshop. I need to make letters that curve around the outside of a circle and I can't figure out how to do it other than to do one letter at a time. Is there a way to make phrases generate in a curve or circle? I'm used to programs that will let you do that like Word and Publisher but I need the crispness of something like PS. I've got Photoshop Limited Edition 5.0 and I'm frantically trying to learn it so make any help in baby talk, ok? :o) Thanks all. I appreciate any help! Susan

This is what I got when looking for "curved text" & photoshop on Google... Seems like it's a good explanation? http://www.laikanet.com/howto/text.html

Are you using PS7? If so create your text and and in the text toolbar at the far right hit the Warp Text button. Select Arc from the Styles pop-up and set the bend to max. To get a full circle you'll need 2 lines of text and use max bend for the upper and min bend for the lower. There's a way to attach text to a path in earlier versions but I can't remember how it's done. HTH; Dan

You don't have Paint Shop Pro do you? With that you just draw a circle and click on it to write the text. Diane

Thanks you all! No, I have only a lite version and it's 5.0. I've finally gotten this hateful graphic done but it's not great. But, it's good enough for now and someone else can muck with it later. I love it when they call from the middle of a training session having decided that the fundamental graphic is garbage and want a new one yesterday. The original one was reasonably easy to do but the new one wasn't...at least not with what I have to work with. Oh well. It's out of my hair now. You all are gems!

for future problems like that, might want to get your hands on a copy of Illustrator...not my fav program but can do a lot of stuff with text

This is the hateful thing I was having to make. It looks like crap and prints like crap but it was thrown together with tools that just don't do this easily. Most of the time the programs I have are fine for what graphic work I do, but not for this one. And what makes it really stupid is that they're not going to have it to the presentation until it's nearly over. I'm not sure why they bothered. Oh well...

Oh, and the colors are hideous. Someone, who will go nameless but is the project director, has no taste. (Can you tell I'm a bit stressed and bitter right now?) Thank you all for the help tho'. I absolutely, positively, definitely APPRECIATE IT! :o)

I agree with above...try out Illustrator demo. Diane It isn't that bad...except for the colors.

eelie, The first tut bknoh refered you to ([tut](http://user.fundy.net/morris/redirect.html?photoshop7.shtml)) works in ps5 if:

in step two you manually place the text instead of trying to
snap to grid.

if in step 5 you merge the layers at the end before trying to do step six (apply polar coordinates.) notes: A screen width of text will be a whole circle. if you choose center text in the text dialogue 6 o'clock (bottom) will be the center of the text. sorry I'm late getting back to you on this. I hope the info is still useful to you. - TJ
