Subject: File Locker status

At what point is my monthly bandwidth allowance reset so others can access my files again? I'm assuming that I was cut off once I exceeded the 3GB limit, but I signed up over a month ago. Also, who can I speak with about purchasing additional bandwidth? Will other packages be available soon? Based on the rate at which my Free Stuff did me in, I estimate I'll need more along the lines of 6-8GB per month.

I'm bookmarking on through....I am wondering if there will be a response soon to this. Seems like it would make a difference to the viability of this service.

yes if you exceed the limit you get cut off. I dont know if they allow for purchasing of more bandwidth, or a second file locker (a secondary thought) so that you would have more bandwidth, the individual i'd ask about it is off at siggraph right now (clint) :/ else i'm sure i could get the info for you or point you in the right direction at least dragon.

I know this is a bad time to get responses until Siggraph is over, but it would be a nice idea to have levels so that the set up fee wouldn't have to be paid for a second file locker. Thanks for posting a response. :) I look forward to learning more.

ClintH responded to my IM last night, while checking in from Siggraph. I'll pester him again (or some other admin) after the convention has ended. I'm usually more patient about such matters, but in the past few weeks a number of people have contacted me about the availability of my Free Stuff, and it isn't practical to email some of those files due to size constraints.

yeah hear ya there dragon, i got some 'special' freebies i give out and file sizes of 5-7 megs just dont cut it for some of the people, expecially sense it takes twice as long to download a file attachment to a email as it does via a http request on 56k for those users.

Tommy might have a better reply than I on this. Lets see what he has to say....

Little Dragon, Your bandwidth should have reset at the first of the month. Sounds like we need to come up with a package that offers more bandwidth per month. Is that how you see it? Tim

This is probably premature, but if you start offering web space, would bundles of services be offered at different price levels that coordinates with the file server space? Seems like something that has worked on other sites.

I'd happily pay for additional bandwidth, yes. It didn't reset. Or perhaps it did, but the file access failed to unlock. In any case, my File Locker has been welded shut since early July.

Little_Dragon, I tested downloading from your File Locker & was able to download just fine. Need to make sure you are using the new links that include an additional argument called "key" that is necessary to keep folks from hacking files by guessing numbers sequentially. I bet this is the problem, but if not, please post specifics here & we'll get them resolved. We're looking into a larger File Locker package with more space & bandwidth. Any suggested sizes for that? Tim

At one point, I had wondered if the links had changed. Never checked up on it, though. I'll see about updating everything. My apologies. 150MB of storage is plenty of room for me at this time. As I mentioned earlier, 6-8GB of monthly bandwidth would probably answer my needs.
