Subject: HELP! Conforming problems! :o(

I'm going absolutely BALD over this. It started yesterday as "just a little robe for Posette" (well someone kinda requested one) and while the robe itself turned out ok (not great but ok) I am getting bald over what happens when I conform the thing. I am using PWizard to make the object onto a conforming item. Have done it before, never seen this happen. As shown, the obj loads in place just as it should, and the dress also loads into the right position when I load the cr2. But as soon as I hit conform strange things happen. Now the first obj I made had this same mysterious offset. I am SURE I didn't move it inside LW, but it came out offset. So I placed it as it should be, exported it out of Poser again to get it right and when I load this new obj it is in place but it looks like SOMEHOW the wrong coordinates are used when it is told to conform. Now this was supposed to be a free item, so will SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME?! I have tried about everything that I can think of. And it just won't work. Btw it conforms like a dream, it's only placed offset to Posette's body which makes it look rather odd *L*

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

Does PWizard remove the preset bends from the figure that it is using as a base? To find out, select your new dress in the image above, open the Joint Editor and hit "Zero Figure". If it now aligns then it didn't so you must now go to Edit/Memorize/figure and save it back to the library.

Also does your dress include a neck and head? Not as actual mesh but as elements within the CR2. Although missing heads tend to result in a skew sideways I thought I'd ask just in case.

Finally, again to get more info, how have you grouped the lower portion of the dress?

My first guess would be that this is related to the fact that all the Poser figures come out of the libraries partially posed, while your clothing will be neutrally positioned. Posette loads in with her hip offset in x,y and z. IK on for both legs and slight bending of some joints. Above image superimposes Posette (straight from the library) and the femaleNudeHi.obj imported with all options unchecked. -- Mark

Or you could just trans the dress over to her make sure all the blocks are straight in box mode and save the file as a pose file, I did this with warriorofD's start treck female uniform top when it would not conform right. but that was in poser 4.

Phil: No it doesn't align if I press Zero figure. I tried that :o) It have no neck or head as the clothing didn't touch those parts, so I though it wasn't necessary. The lower part is grouped with a hip (that goes to the ground) and thighs and shins, both welded to hip. Looks good, no splits or anything :o) Yggdrasil: I have modeled it over the obj and not a posed export, so even though Posette DOES load pretty wonky it actually should fit WORSE then when I import the obj than when I conform, shouldn't it? Just for the fun of it I'll give it a try with the good old Pose room way of doing it... I'll report back if it made any difference. Thanks for the answers so far :o)

Attached Link: RobeBETA.zip

Tried it with Ghastley's (?) Colonial Dress as base for a Setup (not Pose as I wrote earlier) version. The same thing happens: It loads just fine but conform makes it offset. :o( If anybody wants to take a look at it, I have uploaded it. Link above. I have to go to bed now so please don't think I'm being rude if I do not answer.

I see whats happened ;o) well maybe i think LOL....did you zero her then export, if so that works on vicky but not the p4 fem she still ends up in the wrong position, which in this case is where the dress is..anyway to fix it import the dress with all boxes unchecked...then import the p4 fem.....then move the dress slightly back and up till it fits and then delete the woman.....export the dress checking ONLY "include existing groups in polygon groups" (save you jointing again) and overwrite your gown obj and all should be fine ;o)...Steve

Sorry when i say import the p4 fem i mean the obj from the geometries folder......Steve

Sorry I can't help but I wanna know what that is on her head...it looks like it will render great!

You have modeled the dress to fit her when all joints were at zero, which is correct. Unfortunately her hip and BODY were not at zero x, y, zTrans. This image is of Posette in zero pose AND zero position with your robe OBJ imported with no boxes checked. The solution for you is to reposition your OBJ, re-export it and use that for your robe figure.

So I should zero Posette and then import the dress and make it fit, then export the obj? Just to make sure I got it right :o)

no zeroing here won't put her in the correct position(well it will if you move the z and y dials but to be sure import the obj of the woman, import the dress make it fit then delete the woman and export with only "include existing groups in polygon groups" checked and that one will work with your cr2..Steve

Sorry I forgot to answer your question. The hair is the Herma hair by Arduino. You can see it rendered on the pic as well as it's unrendered state :o) Great hair. Made for Vickie but can be made to fit Posette too with minimal tweaking.

Yeah and I just found out that it probably isn't called Herma hair :o/ It is listed in my Poser as Mystical Hair. But by Arduino so THAT part was true at least :o)
