THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: File Extension Clarity

Are "mtl" file extensions material files from an older version of Bryce? Are "bry" file extensions Bryce scene files from an older version of Bryce? Are "bsk" extensions files sky presets for the current version of Bryce?

The BR3 extension is for Bryce 3D files (what gets saved when you hit CTL S) BR4 is the same but for Bryce 4 files. .mtl files are material files and must be imported through the presets library. .obp are Bryce Object Preset files and must be imported through the preset library as well (click on the triangle to the right of the word Create) .bsk files are Bryce sky files and must be imported through the Sky library presets. Hope this helps. Sarah

Thanks, Caligula. What about files with the extension "bry" - are they like the BR3 and BR4 - i.e., Bryce Scene files - but just an older version?

My guess, is the bry extension is a previous Bryce file version. Have you tried running Bryce and then opening the file?

Doh! Why, uh, yes, they do open as a Bryce Scene file should. But hey, I guessed it in my previous post. (I was just to "slow" to try opening one in Bryce to find out myself.) Thanks again, Caligula.
