Looks great, there is a 2d forum you know right?

JC_01 ( ) posted Fri, 08 August 2003 at 12:01 AM

lol yes, sorry, just that i spend all my rosity time here in the bryce forums and i know you guys and value your opinions... I can remove it if it is a problem being in this section. thanks :D

MadDog31 ( ) posted Fri, 08 August 2003 at 12:13 AM

Nah, leave it up. You'll prob get more professional opinion from the 2D folks, but I'm glad you threw it up in here (just as long as you don't upload it to your gallery under Bryce...heheh...) I think you did a good job colorizing it. Is this just for fun or a project? MD

JC_01 ( ) posted Fri, 08 August 2003 at 12:24 AM

lol thanks MadDog... nah, i wont' even bother uploading it to a gallery at all i dont' think, was just a pic done for fun....right after the guy sent it to me to color, he disappeared, so i just did it for the fun of it...lol another one of those, "lets see what this puppy can do" kinda days....hahahah was going to use it for a room picture in manor chat, but like i said, the guy disappeared, so never really did much with it till now....lol LOL OMG, i probably broke some copyright by coloring it and dont' even know it....sheesh... well, it was fun.... and thanks for your thoughts! :D

Hey that would be a good candidate for a Bryce render. I was thinking, it would take me all of about an hour to do something like that in pen and ink, or acrylics and all of a month just to recreate it in Bryce, and then I would be constantly tweaking atmosphere and mats, CG is more demanding then anyone realizes....

Indeed, that was exactly what I was thinking, Zhann! JC, it's an awesome job coloring you've done here, I love doing that with some of my old ink drawings! Just scan them in and bust out the old 'Painter...! Who cares if it's OT, I mean you could have done the sky in Bryce, right? (smirks)

Most certaintly leave it!! Im very impressed with the coloring job you have done. Brilliant in my mind, in fact, it is Bloody fantastic. --- Scott.

Very impressive! Now do it in Bryce....LOL! I think we should be proud of the fact that someone thinks so highly of us that he should post stuff here to get our opinions!

jc.. i know you posted it here to get some opinions... well heres a few from me btw im not really good at 2d but i do know some few things that i learned while studying architecture when i was in college... you did a great job on the coloring, very nice touch but i saw a few things that might make your image mind blowing... 1. difference between shade and shadow... the ink drawing defined that clearly but your colors somehow dampened it... amke the shadows darker... it define the picture more 2. although the trees are pretty neat... it needs a little darkening at the bottom part... the ones that are below the top leaves... its usually dark at that spot, and from your view point it should be near the black level, well not unless if you have lights below the trees... 3. the wall are also great.. but with clear observation, usually expecially with castles, the bottom part is highly stained and darker in color that the top most... reason? because of rain, it drops on the ground and splashes dirt on the walls bottom parts... it builds up in time and stains... there would also be an ocassional dark slpotches on the walls, i dont know how that froms but it shows a lot... you could also add a little green to ares that may not get enough sun light.. 4. grasses are green right? of course! but occassionaly it also differes in color, some are dried (yellowish) because of too much sunlight, some are darker because they a grow in large groups... well you get the picture... well like i said you did a pretty good job... i likem it even, my suggestions are only based on what i learned, i still believe that you should stick to waht you think is best... gud luck and congrats for a great coloring job!
