MarketPlace Showcase F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 08 3:01 pm)
Sorry, but I see it like Carolly - there is a Product Showcase forum and WIPs and anything else related to a commercial product belongs there. The next one who is posting a WIP on something that will be on sale in the RMP over here and has his post moved to the PS will surely understand why DAZ sneak previews are allowed to stay here and other items will not. Either this rule applies to everyone or no one at all.

WIPs and anything else related to a commercial product belongs there Poser is a commercial product produced by CuriousLabs. Besides, nothing anyone is making for Mike 3 is guaranteed to be a commercial product. We aren't on commission. We still have to submit our products for DAZ testing and have the possibility of rejection, despuite the confidence they have shown in us by providing us beta models to build around.
Ah, but Poser is the chief software used in the Poser Forum, and there is an assumption that almost everybody is interested in knowing that the product is or is not viable on the various platforms... and any news regarding updates, service releases, patches. Without Poser most of these models wouldn't have a shelf-life (which is why DAZ is also making a program to display and use models). In a Koshini Forum, one might assume similar interest on behalf of the majority of viewers. In a Michael3 Forum, likewise. In a Supermodel Forum, same deal. Merchants, like all advertisers, want to hit the greatest number of eyeballs, but if those eyeballs glaze over, it isn't going to sell the product. In a Forum where people are looking to purchase, such as the Product Showcase Forum, they have a better chance of reaching people with money in their wallets. Here, where most people want to learn to use the software, they run a risk of being an obstruction. Either ALL third-party merchants are allowed to advertise their wares in the Poser Forum, or none of them. It is a question of fairness. Carolly
Right, but I'm seeing another side to fairness here. I am an artist, and I am creating something, and I want to be able to show it off. I don't have a price tag, or a link to a page where you can pre-order, or even 'Ad-style' images up. I'm showing off my work. Yes, I'm hoping to sell my work eventually, and that shouldn't preclude me from being able to show off my work. Yes, I'm aware that the fact that mywork has Mike 3 inside the armour draws more attention than if it didn't, but again, I'm showing off my work. I'm doing Poser stuff. Conforming samurai armour. Conforming cloth-modelled trousers with realistic wrinkles and no cloth room. I want to draw more eyes because I'm very proud of what I'm doing. I don't feel that the fact that my work is going to have a price tag should warrant my being shoved into an oubliette where the majority of viewers are other merchants skimming after they post their promos. And yes, I do believe that merchants should be able to show images of their wares here. If there's a drive to keep the forum less commercial, then don't let them link to the product; don't let them list it like a product. I never would here on general principles. It's the same as the difference between, say, if I did auto bodywork and I had just fixed up a nice 69 Mach 1 with custom leather interior, a fancy flamejob, and so on. In a non-commercial classic car forum, I could still show off what I did. I couldn't list a price or my phone number, but I could show it off and hope for some stroking. I could even mention that I'm planning to sell it, and if people wanted to contact me about how to buy it that would be fine. It's a difference in approach. But the idea that something is destined to have a price tag makes it unworthy of being seen as art -- it's the whole 'Ugh, commercial art' snobbery that the art world as a whole has been having to put up with for almost a century now. And that is unfair.
Frankly, I don't care where it's posted, I just want to see it. Here is just fine. Especially since it's a FREE UPGRADE to everyone who bought the Mike 2 package. It's a great package, and any promo with Mike 3 is appreciated. It's not like anyone is forced to look at the post. I can hardly wait to get it. Thanks wdupre! You do great work, and now I don't have to convert the leather pants from Stud Mike. Think you could post an open front version pic of the jacket, with a little muscle showing?
dodger keep on posting here, i never go to the product showcase, because i don't have a product to show, however as a poser consumer and a future mike3 purchaser, this interest me.. I was under the assumption these forums were for poser related topics... so you posting here goes with that territory..NUFF said

Rather than rehash my opinions here... I'm going to instead direct you to this post further up in the forum.... [ DraX's Opinion on this whole deal](http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12356&Form.ShowMessage=1374482&Reply=1375084#25)jeez folks had I known it would cause such a rucus I would have thought twice about posting this image here. and if TPTB want to move it to the product showcase forum they are more then welcome. It just seemed to me that Mike 3 has been a hot topic of discussion lately and now that DAZ feels comfortable letting a bit of the wraps off of things, people might be interested in seeing whats up with him and also unlike with previous models there will be stuff available right off for him. When I released the biker set for M2 I did indeed post the image in the Showcase forum. but I thought due to the general interest in M3 that this would be acceptable.... I guess not and I appologise to those who think that it was wrong to do.
Looks around... makes sure I am in the Product Showcase Forum... tilts head in though of ALL the "previews" including my own that ARE allowed and apparently appreciated here... I personally am glad to see your outfit, and the news that it will be for Mike 3, which I am waiting in line for too! Thanks for posting! :)

You may have seen my born to be Wild Biker set at DAZ already but Ive set it up for Mike 3 and it will be ready for re-release When M3 comes out. the new set will also come with the leather pants shown(perhaps I can convince Mab to do a few textures for the pants too). and as stated in the copy the M3 set is a free upgrade to all who own the current set. oh and by the way I'm proud to say that the folks over at Critical Depth have done a really great review of my set :) (see link above)
