DOF = Depth of field. It means a field of distance that is in focus. Typically in a vue render everything from the nearest object to infinity is perfectly focused. This wouldn't normally happen in a real camera lens, so vue lets you simulate the effect of a real lens by having areas thrown out of focus. The instructions on how to use this effect are on pg63 of the manual, and as the manual goes arn't too bad. If you need any help just holla

Ebsmoot, you will find all terms and definitions used in 2D and 3d in our Renderosity dictionary. You find it in the menu in our backroom above:-) Guitta guittalogo.GIF

thank you both for the help. i feel kinda stupid for not figureing it out, especially since it is in the manual. is there a certain setting that would normally be used, or is it all trial and error? thanks again for the assistance, i really appreciate it!

It is mare or less trial and error. But when you start defining it on your camera, you will see two extra lines in the view conus which define the field in which your image is in focus. So it is not so difficult.

No Guitta, R'osity dictionay doesn't have it! I had to ask someone from this gallery! :-) And I still don't know what are POV and IMHO stand for! : (

POV - "Point of View" IMHO - "In my humble opinion" (alt IMNSHO - "In my not-so-humble opinion")
