Subject: Kinda OT, question about finding a web host for an online store...

Forgive me for the OT post, but this is unfamiliar territory for me and I know that many of you have experience with this sort of thing...

I am looking into setting up a website that has online purchase capabilities. I will need it to be able to add items to a shopping cart, go to checkout, shipping and handling charges applied, etc. These will not be downloadable items and they will need to be shipped to the customer.

What good/bad experiences has anyone had with setting up an online store? Does anyone have any suggestions for me as far as where i can set up an account?

thank you for your help,
Brooke

Attached Link: http://store.yahoo.com/

At Yahoo Stores there is already "traffic". The only one I can think of where you don't have to do your own coding if you can't. Laurie

Doesn't paypal offer such with a business/premier account?

.

yes but customers need to have a Paypal account, and that would probably detract sales...

I don't know about store software but ICDSoft has the most reliable hosting I've ever contracted with...they're my 3rd. As to PayPal, not sure why everyone doesn't have an account. When you think about it, it's nice to be able to go to a site and use PayPal to pay. With credit card purchasing, no matter what site you go to, you usually have to type in "all that personal" data again (and again). And then there's always the worry of all the sites you use your credit card at being REAL good at protecting your information from hackers. WIth Paypal, the information resides with them. So, do you want 100 sites having your information or just Paypal? Just a thought. Not a rant.
