Attached Link: Status for Poser and Pro pack

HI, I made a time ago a new status for poser that spare your RAM and Poser4 and Pro pack render much faster that before.. check the url above you can download there 2 status.. the second with emoticon (smile) is much better as the first one.. and it really works!!!!!!!. not only you spare the CPU, RAM but also the speed of rendering is faster.. I did this for fun was boring of the little figure and what I got? try self... PC Only.. Mac need other format..work in progress.. and that is not normal AVI as you think..

You can also simply add a blank text for the avi file and it will go pretty fast with no animation at all - that's what I have done. Simply open notepad and create a blank file name it "status45.avi" (back up your current one first of course) then there will be no animation at all - very nice and thanks to Netherworks for sharing this idea in the first place.

Nice tip! I never thought of fiddling with that stupid little "stepping man". Figured Poser wouldn't let it be changed.

Thank you LadySilverMage .. I did this almost one year ago this is old news in new topic!!..:) hahahaha thanks for the new tip!!! will try direct! and people after you change the status please restart the poser before you use the new one.... Important! Poser5 had on the first version also stupid animation but in the new updates not.. :)

Simderella ( ) posted Mon, 11 August 2003 at 9:16 AM

My animation thingy vanishes all together on occasion and has only recently appeared.. I wonder why he dissapears.. maybe he was on vacation, he sure looks like he got a very orangy tan... LOL I'll give this a go!! I didn't think that little avi file would make a whole bunch of diffence to rendering times.. i'm surprised to read that it does. ;)

Well since I don't remember my password and there doesn't appear to be any way to retrieve it since it obviously is going to my old email account then I guess I won't be in on this little secret. I wish you would just share it instead of making me jump through the hoops of signing up again with a new name and password. Marque

Catherine, I ultimately chose to do away with the animation all together as it was much faster. Old news to us is still new "news" to some ;-) And there was a "possible" issue with changing the animation itself. A member at 3-D Arena stated that changing to a new avi caused her zone alarm to go off all of the time. She said it probably wasn't the alternate avi but her zone alarm seemed to think it was. When she went ot a blank avi the problem ceased. Old post about the problem she had (from 12/02) never did look into it any further so I'm not sure what exactly caused it.

Is there any way that someone could explain it here very quickly since it's old news? I know you can change the animation, but how does that make it faster. LadySilverMage I can't access you site for the same reason, goes to the old email address. Marque

3-DArena ( ) posted Mon, 11 August 2003 at 11:05 AM

Marque if you want I can reset your email just IM me. I think that basically an animation pulls from the rendering process. Quote from Netherworks: "In your Poser/Runtime/Scripts folder, backup the status45.avi file (rename it to BAK or something). Make a new textfile and call it status45.txt. Don't put anything in it (leave at at 0) and rename the extension to .avi. Seems to work without issue and you still have a progress bar to follow. "

When I changed mine a LOOOOOONNNNGGGG time ago, it was to replace it with a faerie, anyone remember that? Man are you ever right about this, the render time is amazing. Thanks for bringing it up Catharina. And thanks to everyone else for helping pound it into my dense sans caffiene skull. 8^) Marque

Marque you can download the smile from here..I posted above a url.. why this make the renders so fast? cose the files are only 1.3 kb not MB and the original files was more that 213KB and AVI... I used mpeg4 avi.. every time you render the little man start to play so you not only use your CPU and RAm to render your scene. you use also for play the AVI in the same time.. was just a mistake of the creators to do this... I ad the smilie cose I like this.. and Poser5 users have not a problem with it anymore after updates.. I did this long time ago but after daz made the models much bigger I decided to post this in my forum.. and I render 1 frame per sec of animation using this status.. not have the time yet to test the other tex.. files but will try tonight.. Margue what is your new e-mail I will change for you.. send PM to me here at RC..

3-DArena ( ) posted Mon, 11 August 2003 at 11:36 AM

I like the boucy smilie too, if I was going back to using an avi that would be teh one - simply because he looks so cheerful about rendering your image lol

LadySilverMage I did the status with Flash ..I try many other will not working as well as this one avi.. I can't see the other post I ma not a mmeber of the other website but will look at it later too.. and btw the member of the 3D-Arena dont reloaded poser that why she got the problem..she have open poser for sure after changes.. I did this first time too.. I was boring and try to change the interface of my old Poser to new one :) lol first close the poser make any changes then open and render with text.avi or animat what you wish.. your own choice I got request for a red heart lol hahaha

Marque ( ) posted Mon, 11 August 2003 at 11:46 AM

An overloaded pumping red heart...lol Just one more render and I'm going to the hospital! Thanks Catharina Marque

3-DArena ( ) posted Mon, 11 August 2003 at 11:49 AM

Ah - I would have thought she'd have closed it out and then done it again. So the first blu bar was flash and the remaining were avi? Perhaps that was the issue as well? Sometimes ZoneAlarm doesn't like Flash from what I understand. I love teh pumping heart - sometimes when rendering and it seems to stop one's heart pumps too hard for a few seconds thinking it will all crash :-D

Catharina Przezak ( ) posted Mon, 11 August 2003 at 11:54 AM

IS YOUr LOADING OF POSER TO SLOW? you can do this way.. open the default ground tif image rescale to 1x1 pixels and save back as .tif.... now not only your poser start faster but you will spare the time and your rendering time will get more speed that ever.. somebody said I don't user the ground for renders but poser load the textures as well in rendering.. is standard LOL but is true.. for Poser4 and Poser pro pack if somebody don't got this idea or is again a old news.. I need more coffee maybe I find more in my archive X files.....hahahhaha Cath

Mason ( ) posted Mon, 11 August 2003 at 11:57 AM

I wonder if also the system does a codec check every time it tries to dot he anim and that's why zone alarm went off for some. Yeah that avi animated button/control is available in MSVC but I would imagine its a slow item. I didn't realize it was that slow. Also probably forces a resize of the avi as well to fit the space which is costly.

now works for all and you don't have to log in in the forum.. Thanks Marque..I was 6 months hahaha poser try to kill me for real!!!!! and LadySilverMage .. I said I used flash but the avi format is in mpeg4 avi so on old computer maybe she had a problem with if she don't have the right codes.. but tell me what about MAC users? they can't support .AVI format so will the tex.avi working if renamed to .mov ?

Catharina Przezak ( ) posted Mon, 11 August 2003 at 12:34 PM

I have 5GB extra virtual memory for Poser in separate hard driver too.. working with 6 drivers is good.. so much stuff and I hate to load from CD-R.. succes with your new house ... the same waiting me very soon..:(

MarianneR ( ) posted Mon, 11 August 2003 at 4:18 PM

It seems to work on the Mac too, but the original file is only 80K so the difference is smaller. I downloaded the empty avi-file, moved the original status45.MooV and then renamed the avi-file to status45.MooV. I tried a very simple picture, just Vicky with textures, and the rendering time went from about 60 seconds to 50. Poser 4 running in Classic under OSX 10.2.6.

I don't do anymore this was the last.. downlaod and replace with your old status as you did before if you wish to have animation as well..I try to set the files to low as I can.. Have fun Cath

SWAMP ( ) posted Mon, 11 August 2003 at 7:18 PM

From a tip I read ages ago in this forum,I just got rid of the figure all togeather(delete the avi.file). You really can notice a big differents. Great tip about the ground tex Catharine...going to try that out also. Thanks very much,SWAMP

melanie ( ) posted Mon, 11 August 2003 at 8:01 PM

I know I'm coming in late to this; I just found the thread a minute ago, but I was told a long time ago that if you just put a _ before the status45.avi, the little man disappears. I've had mine set that way for a long time now. If you want the figure back, you just need to delete the _ to get him back. But the different little figures are fun and entertaining when rendering. Melanie

Catharina Przezak ( ) posted Mon, 11 August 2003 at 8:04 PM

Attached Link: lynnJonathan download this and install ....will not crash your poser for sure..

I tested every one before so as you see in the preview I rendered with in Poser Pro.. you can't remove status45 from the script folder I think.. but I use the tex.avi don't remove anyhting else from the script folder that only update the old status45.avi with the new one.. lynnJonathna use this one it works for sure.. before you do anything restart your poser.. this will works for sure and is better.. and regarding the ground SWAMP.. it load well faster everything too.. I don't use any figures on the poser scene this slow down the loading

Catharina Przezak ( ) posted Mon, 11 August 2003 at 8:10 PM

Thanks Melanie.. every one have own choice to do what wish.. if they wish fun and as you said entertaining when rendering is ok.. but the original little man sucks the RAM an CPU usage as well so not recomended for anybody with a_ or without..LOL :) try self with the blank one.. you will see the difference.. Cath

swfreeman ( ) posted Tue, 12 August 2003 at 2:10 PM

catharina, do you know if poser would render faster when you use the alternate "old" poser interface? (the one you get when you type "po2" in poser) its less grafics intensive... and maybe it will need less ram...

Catharina Przezak ( ) posted Tue, 12 August 2003 at 5:16 PM

swfreeman.. less grafics lees stuff in the main menu everything need food.. I have one poser that I have only models I work for test renders on textures so this is a poetry when I return to the normal poser full of stuff this drama start again and suck the power as crazy.. remove the all old stuff you never use for anything and you will see.. I try to change the interface and reduce everything what can.. the po2 maybe help you with the RAM but not in the speed of your renders..

Netherworks ( ) posted Thu, 14 August 2003 at 5:19 PM

Thanks raven. I'm not sure what the size is - I've lost my status avi backup - LOL. I've used the blank avi hack for so long... ;)

.

Catharina Przezak ( ) posted Thu, 14 August 2003 at 6:02 PM

raven.. 48x42 pixels max.. or open one I did to see but there are not all the same..

SWAMP ( ) posted Thu, 14 August 2003 at 6:43 PM

Still not sure why you need to create a blank avi file.... like I said before,I deleted the Poser avi and did not replace it with anything.Render time was much improved, and having no issues at all. Has anyone had any problems with just getting rid of the avi all togeather? SWAMP

Jim Burton ( ) posted Thu, 14 August 2003 at 7:54 PM

Being the devil's advocate here, I don't know, the stock AVI can't be all that much drag on the system can it? It is only a tiny little thing. I suggest running a good test, maybe my "CPU Test" (in Freestuff), my results are 43 seconds original, 42 seconds with Catharina's file, which is more like what I would expect. That is in Poser 4. On the other hand, don't get me wrong, 1 second was also about the same improvement I got going from 512 to 1024 Mb of RAM, and this change is cheaper! I just don't go along with "Big" Improvement.

lynnJonathan ( ) posted Thu, 14 August 2003 at 11:11 PM

Here is what I found with a couple tests. Normal 271 KB AVI - 18 seconds New 12 KB AVI - 21 seconds LONGER RENDER- Normal 271 KB AVI - 7:24 New 12 KB AVI - 7:48 The render with the small AVI took longer? Anyway, when poser starts to render it loads the textures. For me these can get pretty big and can really effect your render times. I bet it takes Poser 2 or 3 seconds to load that AVI, after that its loaded and really effects nothing. So if you really want to render faster change the image sizes of your textures. Some people might put a 2000 X 2000 pixel texture map on something that is going to use up 100 X 100 pixels of your render. That area is going to take a while render.

SWAMP ( ) posted Thu, 14 August 2003 at 11:43 PM

Well from what I've observed(and I'm a little different,in that I don't use any avi file)is..... I don't think it's so much of a drain on the system,as much as it seems Poser won't render faster than what the orange guy can do his side step. In parts of the scene that are render intense(like the head with S.F.hair,global lights with shadows on)I don't see any improvement. But in parts that don't have as much to render,(or empty space)my bar graph moves faster than it would with the avi playing. So while this won't help Poser when it's working slow and hard....not having the avi playing does allow Poser to render faster when it has less to do...giving overall better render times. SWAMP
