Vicki 1, 2, and 3 can wear Koshini's stuff. It just takes a little bit of fiddling.

EricofSD ( ) posted Sat, 09 August 2003 at 1:48 PM

They can? Er, like, how much fiddling? Trying to get V2 clothing to fit V3 is near impossible and we won't even think about trying that with Judy. But I'm all ears here.

I've been wondering how much work it is.....cause I think Lady Littlefox has made some execellent clothes for Koshini...try asking her if she can make them for Vicki since she is the one who made Koshini and her fabulous clothes.....

Lunaseas ( ) posted Sat, 09 August 2003 at 3:15 PM

could somebody make some presets to "fix" the dresses to fit? I've not had much practice with magnets myself and I would love to use these dresses on V3

DarkElegance ( ) posted Sat, 09 August 2003 at 3:16 PM

How much work this is depends on how much you want the clothes to conform to the new figure. I don't conform them at all, mainly because Koshini's joint parameters are so different to any of the Vickis.

What I usually do instead is load V3, body-scale her to about 92%, Y-scale her chest to about 92%, then load the Koshini clothing. The skirts are easy, since they hide the legs and don't really have to fit closely; they usually just need a bit of scaling larger at the top (abdomen) sections, then they can be parented to V3's hip.

The bodice is the trickiest part. Position it just over V3's torso until it's as much in alignment as possible. Select the left and right forearms of the bodice, x-scale to about 85% (Koshini's arms are longer and more exaggerated than Vicki's.) Then either use the chest/left collar/right collar morphs on Vicki, or use magnets to scale her chest and breasts to fit in the Koshini bodice. You will get a better shape in the bodice if you set the Cleavage settings in the collars and chest to 1.0. I also set Small Breasts to about .700 usually. The V2 or V3 Faerie full-body morph will give you a shape like Koshini's, or if you own Roxanne, the Sprite body is a good match.

Once everything looks like it's mostly fitting, parent (DON'T conform) the bodice figure to the Vicki figure's chest. Then pose Vicki however you want her. Apply the same pose to the Bodice figure. You should get a fairly good result with the respective body parts of both figures lining up almost like conforming clothing. It takes some fiddling around.

The two problem areas where you will almost never get a good result are the back of the torso on the Koshini clothing, and the neck. I chose this version of the Victorian gown because it has a low bodice rather than a high neck; Koshini's neck is simply not in the same place as either Vicki's, and so you'll never get the high-necked version of this dress to line up. The length of Koshini;s torso relative to her height is more stylized than Vicki's, as well, and so you tend to have a bit of a bulge in the middle of the back of any shirt or dress bodice of Koshini's you use with Victoria. This is usually pretty easy to postwork out.

Koshini and Ichiro's hair will fit most Poser figures if you scale it to about 50% in size, then increase the Z scale slightly (normal figures have rounder heads than the Koshini/Ichiro figures.) Again, position the hair and then parent to the head, instead of conforming.

Another trick I have to use clothing from one figure with another figure is that I have made and saved versions of the V3, V2, Nia, Dina and Judy figures that just have the head, neck, collars and chest body parts. It's much easier to maneuver these part-figures into place in a different figure's clothing than the full body. Once everything looks right, I parent them. I also have separate figures that are just each figure's left and right hands. Load each hand, position into the right place in the clothing, then parent to the forearm. This means that each pose has to be applied to clothing, figure, left and right hands separately, but that's not too big a deal.

And most hair will fit Koshini if you scale it to 153%.

I parent the clothes to the character's hips and pose the clothing separately. That gets you most of the way there already. It also allows you to move the character in the scene and have the clothing follow.

I've fit mil girls clothes to Koshini and vice versa. It took about 10 minutes to get the ballerina outfit to fit the pre-teen figure and that's because I'm slow at rendering.

One trick I've found is to give the clothing a little extra bend in the chest or abdomen. I think it's about -4 degrees. That will fix some of the poke-through problems as well.

Forget the shoes, though. Without serious morphing or magnets, I don't think they can trade off shoes.

Definitely ask Littlefox if she would consider releasing Victoria versions of her Koshini dresses, I think. Some of us have been doing so already. I think that she understandably would want to be sure there was enough demand to justify her time, so every little note no doubt helps our cause. ;-) Kimberly

First of all, THANK YOU Fauve (and Crescent) for all that info! That said, I'm gonna be a bit of a wet blanket here. Of course anyone can convert, and LLF can do anything she wants. But, darnit, I LIKE the fact that Koshini has HER OWN stuff. It's just an emotional thing..not practical at all..but Koshini is so unique to me that I want her to stay that way. :) Please take this the right way.

It would be wonderful if she would do some Vic conversions....I think it would pay off nicely for her if she has the inclination to do it :)

i have to say, actually, if koshini's clothes fit v3 or even any other character easily and well, i'd be more likely to get them. i usually don't because, while i've made some morphs of koshini's face, she's so stylized that she only has so much versatility in the sense of my personal voice. she's always koshini, while v3 is easier to make into my character. this is not at all a criticism of koshini. i'm just noting that if its so easy to convert over to other characters, if lady littlefox included a v3 version with the sets, i bet a lot more people would get them. just my 2 cents

littlefox ( ) posted Mon, 11 August 2003 at 6:03 PM

Hugs, thanks for alerting me to the thread... I've been so burried under a new project that I've barely been coming up for air. Wow, I didn't realize so many wanted the clothing I was doing for V3, thought it was too stylized to actually work well for her. Well I'll be the first to be happily proved wrong. ;) However, let me dispell one myth about the relative ease of making stuff for Koshini fit V3 as conforming clothing as well as it does Koshini and why I haven't done any cross work up to this point. Every package I do for koshini generally takes about 3 days to model... that's it, and that's for the more intricate ones. Pretty fast eh? So why are there around 3 weeks between packs? Spacing them out so you don't saturate the market? Actually no, the next 3 weeks are filled with boning the darn things! You may or may not have noticed but I have this love of multi-layered non-skintight clothing..... clothing that requires specialized boning for every pack that I have to do by hand and fine tune its joints, degree by degree until it fits Koshini or Ichiro to about as flawless as I can get. Now if the clothing were skin tight, heavens, this would be easy, just swipe the bones off of Ichiro or Koshini and go on my merry way with only minimal adjustment, however doing full multiple layer skirts, puffy sleeves, heck, even that eeeeeevil collar....EEEEEEEEE Its a wonder I have any hair left. I'm not fast at boning and it's the only part I hate of the entire process of creation... unfortunately its also the part that takes up the majority of my time. Just ask any one of my beta testers how many errors I have to track down, correct and resubmit to them in the space of a week not to mention in the space 3 weeks.(Whimpers and this next pack is going to be much much much worse). Now multiply this times the JCMs on V3 to fit around, all the morphs I would need to support just for basic compatablity and completely reworking the joint structure not to mention the refitting the entire clothing obj such that I'd even be willing to sell it and not feel like it was a hack job, fully conforming and ready to go..... we're talking 3-4 weeks easy of solid work..... Easy? Not by a long shot... doable, Yes and I'm more than willing but not easy. ;) Now if I could find someone who is a CR2 builder/Boning Maker from Heck who feels up to the challange, heavens we could turn out Koshini and V3, Ichiro and M3 models pretty darn regularly, but to be frank moving from 3-4 weeks a project to 6-8 weeks solid on the same project, I'd get so sick of fighting with the same model over and over in all its forms that by the time I'm done I'm afraid I'd abandon poser all together out of utter frustration. And I'd never have time to work on all the projects I want to for Koshini and Ichiro. Now this said, I do have a friend who is working on V2&V3 Fitting Dresses inspired by the Elegance and Lady gowns. However once they're out, if you still want me to make V2&V3 versions of my stuff, I'd be more than happy to give it a shot, but it will take a backseat to building for my darlings ;) And if any of you kick butt CR2/Bone Builders out there feel up to the challange and want to team up, PLEASE email me ;)!!!!! HUGS!!!!!! Littlefox

no, no, you're perfectly informative. it's quite nice of you to be so considerate and responsive. ah. that makes perfect sense (and i thought it might actually be rather difficult). and i'd rather see valentine, miss kitty, chibi-goyle, water sprite, and mitchiko sooner than have them held up just to add to vicky's already extensive wardrobe. looking at those dresses, however, i have to wonder if serge marck would be of help... i bet even if he didn't want to convert your dresses, he'd be willing to put some romantic styled dresses for v3 on the market. oh, and i'm looking forward to your friends work.
