Subject: Cafe Press vs. Zazzle vs Uhm, well any others?

CDI ( ) posted Tue, 12 August 2003 at 10:01 AM · edited Thu, 01 August 2024 at 3:16 AM

Well Ive finally got an image Im pleased enough with to put online for print. Ive explored both Cafe Press and Zazzle and they seem to be roughly equal. I have a question about Zazzle though. I may have misunderstood the Royalty info. Is it saying that I only receive 10% of the final sale price??? Thanks for any assist on this

yeah and I think Cafepress is the same. last time i visited cafepress though, unless you actually became a member and paid them, they wouldn't allow you to sell more than one type of product :/ So out of the two I'd go with Zazzle, it seems to offer the better deal. Drac

just a side note.. Ordered a T-shirt with one of my images printed on it from zazzle.. And the print on it SUCKED big time!! after 1 wash the colors were all washed out and it now looks like it's about 2-3 years old.. just so you know =/

heyas; drac, i'm not sure that's accurate. then again, i signed up with cafepress a while back. you can only have one image per 'store,' but you can have multiple 'stores.' that's the way mine is set up, anyhow. also, you can display your 'stores' all together on one page, by plugging in all the store ids into one url.

Bloodsong: What kind of pay rate does Cafe Press have??

sbucci ( ) posted Tue, 12 August 2003 at 2:07 PM

If you want to sell more than one item of a particular kind of merchandise, the $60 CafePress charges for the premium store is probably easily made back.

Have you thought about deviantart.com? They have a print shop too...

miyu ( ) posted Tue, 12 August 2003 at 3:45 PM

Deviantarts prints are very good quality

Ms_Outlaw ( ) posted Tue, 12 August 2003 at 4:56 PM

I have both... what I don't like about Zazzle is you have to write them and get them to remove items... they have that dumb rating system which we all know gets abused. One votes 9 another votes 1 just to bring it down. I got them to remove everything off there. Although their quality is very nice. I got a poster done up for myself and really like it.

Cafepress prints are essential 'poster quality' (vs. print). BTW, I'd NEVER rely on selling from either of them. When was the last time you said, "Hey. I think I'll check out Zazzle (or CafePress) and see what I can buy!" It would probably be better to sell from your own site (either net or brick and morter) and use them to just produce the prints.

Hrmmmmm wow. Thanks for all the comments folks. Youve given me a lot to think about. Really wish Rosity still sold prints. :-( Lady Nimue: Sorry about that. Didnt even know there WAS a Print forum. LOL

Hey CDI - Not a problem :) Honestly - this was Not a ploy to let more people know that their is indeed a Printing Forum However, since we had already been talking about Zazzle.com [in previous threads] thought your question would have a great impact on other members who wish to know about printing :) While you are here, please look around the Forum's Archieves - might be something there of interest :) And most importantly - Don't be a stranger to the Printing Forum! ladynimue
