I haven't been able to find the answer to this on my own (maybe no looking hard enough.. ;) How does one save UVmapping modificatons within the editor, to be able to reopen at a later time to complete the modifications? I'm sure I'm missing something painfullly obvious...forest for the trees type of thing. TIA

Hello Tia, Fun character! I'm not sure I really understand your question. Are the mesh geometery modifications you make in the UV editor not 'sticking' when you reopen the file and go back into the UV editor? Mark

Exactly. (and allow me the caveat, that this could be enduser error...not utilizing the tool properly etc). Open Mechvark, apply the mapping parameters, modify the map, save, close. When I reopen the file, and open the editor...I'm back where I started...I'm sure I'm missing something here. I did finish the map yesterday for this guy though (in one sitting). I appreciate your help!

What build of the Beta are you working with? You might have come across a bug that has been remedied. The Beta I'm working with doesn't have the issue you're speaking of. I know that the UV Editor has been updted recently.

I have the 3.0 build.

MarkBremmer ( ) posted Wed, 13 August 2003 at 7:37 AM

I know that you have the Carrara 3.0 beta but, as you launch the application, the screen image that launches will have a little, "b25" or similar number in the lower right hand corner. The number represents the build or version of the beta. My suspicion is that your issue has been corrected and will be gone with the next beta you recieve or with the final product. If the arrangement that came with your beta version doesn't allow for upgrading to the next beta version, you will have to wait. :( As long as we're working with a Beta, the program is a work-in-progress and will not be as "bug free" as the final version. But, it looks like it's been corrected :) I'm just glad I'm not the one to figure out all of the code that makes up a program like this work!

Oh, yes, I was looking for a number on the launch screen. There isn't any, which I found odd, but then again it's Beta. No such thing as odd. I'm just happy to have it in the house! 8) No worries on my end. I'm very impatient with myself normally, and quick to blame the head between the monitor and the back of my chair. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't me! LOL Thanks for you thoughts Mark, your time is appreciated!! Kat

Well I feel like a dink. 8P I just realized the process between the texture room and the UV editor. OF COURSE you can edit the map! SHEESH! slaps forehead Sometimes things are so well done and obvious it just passes me right by.........

That's ok. I have a permanent dent on my forehead from just the same thing... A hard won dent it is too.
