Subject: Easy way to create circular text?

ookami ( ) posted Wed, 13 August 2003 at 9:33 AM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 5:50 PM

Is there an easy way to create circular text? I have a round logo I want to create text around. What's the best way to do that in Photoshop 6? Thanks!

Super quick way would be Filter/Distort/Polar Coordinates

ookami ( ) posted Wed, 13 August 2003 at 10:12 AM

I've never used Polar Coordinates... any tips?

Enian ( ) posted Wed, 13 August 2003 at 11:42 AM

-Type out the line of text that you want to use. -Rasterize that layer. -Then go to: filter/distort/Polar Coordinates. -Select Rectangular to Polar, click OK. This will wrap the text in a circle. You may have to transform it a bit to get it to fit around what you want. There are better ways of doing this, but I can't think of them right now :(

photoshop 8 (coming this november[pc only]) will have text paths similar to vector programs...

dreamer101 ( ) posted Wed, 13 August 2003 at 2:00 PM

Adobe Illustrator has the "Text to Path" tool. Makes it a lot easier.

photoshop 7 has a 'bendy text' feature up on the top toolbar that you can use to wrap text in a variety of directions and adjustments best thing they ever added IMO regarding text features

It is hard to get the text straight on the circle (?) but it IS possible in PS7. I still prefer Illustrator (which in version 10 has, beside the classic Text Path the same text warp tools SeanE mentions, and before that had to be made with plug-ins). But what is the [pc only] thing about Photoshop 8? Do Mac users have to wait? Bartolomiew?

kd_kedar ( ) posted Thu, 14 August 2003 at 3:59 AM

So ps 8 is peeping now... good news...i m excited 2 use that stuff

Bartholomiew ( ) posted Thu, 14 August 2003 at 12:03 PM

wait my bad... i think it will be MAC ONLY, supposedly Photoshop 8 will be for 64bit processors... like the mac, jaguar. here http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=005PEZ or just search google for "Photoshop 8 Preview"...
