Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 24 6:22 pm)
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
Yes, it's usual. That thing will grow and grow and grow. It doesn't stop. No, there is no cure.
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
I may total up the value of all the purchases I have made on Poser related stuff. That should be a truly frightening experience. :D

Well so far it's only Spit got me beat for number of files! As to number of Gigs, if I total up all my Poser files, zips and backups and everything, the whole lot, I'll be over 100 Gigs, easy. My Runtime is only the stuff I really feel I need to have access to. Sam - you should see how much I spent on the DAZ sale. Ouch! Maus - No, I have only one Runtime - I never saw any good reason to have more than one, actually. Do you have 8 to keep track of different things? To sort stuff? Diane - uh-uh no, I've been collecting zips since '98. We're talking tens of thousands here! But at least I have them sorted, so if I need a certain type of prop or something I can normally find it. Takes a while though. :] Fish
Geesus, and I thought 13 Gb was large... yall crazier than I

hmmm..considering I do Poser 4 on a machine with a 6 gig drive, and Poser 3 with a machine with a 40 gig drive, I'm out of the running (gotta wonder about my priorities..;)
However, I'm about to burn CD 62 of downloads, about..oh..say 2/3rds Poser, quick check..about 11,300 in the database so far, carry the 2...hah? only works out to 12.4 gig..of course, that's all zipped, so call it 24 gig unzipped, to be charitable. (aside from Vickie Lo-res, and Odeathoflife's guitar, that's all I have in my runtime in Poser..que lastima..;)
I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

I'm about on par with Engel47. I have 11 runtimes. Altogether, all my runtimes combined, are 8.54G. I like to keep individual runtimes small, plus it helps me organize things easier. Now this is just the ones I have on my computer. I have 13 other unique vendor runtimes on 9 cd's and God knows how many CD's with just back up of files I've either purchased or gotten in freestuff. And I got Poser 5 around Christmas last year :) sigh

Fish, I have Poser 5 and recently began to create different Runtimes, this way I can organize everything much better and the single runtimes are smaller in size and Poser loads faster this way. And then I cleaned house recently with PUN and kicked a lot of stuff I've never used out of my old P4 runtime.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.

Leather-guy wins! ROFL!! Oboyoboy. Talking about harddisk space - beat this lol - I have 5 harddisks (on ONE PC) with a total capacity of wait for it - 722 MB. That's 0,72 Terabytes..... And mostly full too. There's about 135 Gigs free at the moment. But then I work with music composition, video editing, multimedia, graphics design, Poser, etc. And I'm an inveterate collector of every darn thing. One small video job can generate 40 Gigs, so you need space. The other PC has only 4 harddisks on it lol. :] Fish
Fish, I assume you meant 722 gig not mb? I have a bunch of removable hard disks, depending on what work I am doing. Each disk is at least 40 gig and the biggest is 120 gig. As to questions as to when you stop collecting files. I don't think that will happen. I have tons and tons of stuff in collections of free and bought items. I would not like to put a price on what I have spent on items or what I am likely to spend. My wife is now resigned to the idea that I spend more money on other women (victoria et al) than I do her.
2 200 GB hard drives?!! I know what I want in Poser 6: a SEARCH function.

I'm getting a new puter with 3 200G drives. I have 5 runtimes with 36G in the biggest, 20g-- in the second, just under 20 in the third-- all those darn INJ files that I have to keep in the root runtime! And under 10 in the 4 and under 5-- so far-- in the 5th. There are some duplications-- mostly hair and props, for when I only want to work out of the "Cute" runtime. Emily
