Here is the latest of my work in progress for the tree challenge. I did a few trees then thought I'd work on the basic terrain. The more I tweak it the more it heads towards a scene without trees! or at least a scene where trees aren't the promenent focus of the scene. I had the same thing happen in art. I had an argument with a guy and sketched him in black and white charcoal. I kept blending and adding more black until he looked angry even when he didn't pose that way. Another time I penciled a girl to look awful even though she was quite pretty. It's like I have a picture in one side of my brain but the other side that controls the drawing has another idea. I'm left handed and supposedly that make some difference as to which half of the brain controls motor skills. Just wondered if anyone else ever had the picture take over from them like I describe.

I always start with just a vague idea of what I want and let it pretty much make itself(whatever it is, not neccesarily with Bryce or art).

Oh, and I'm left handed.

I'm right-handed, but it seems to not matter so much, because to me happens more or less the same thing, both when I'm Brycing and when I'm writing I often begin with an idea that at the end looks completely different. S.

Everything I do has a "mind of its own" too....and it is always surprising where it takes me. There are an abundance of beautiful, and inventive artwork still in my head, that refuses to come out on paper, or computer graphics, either one. It's the way of the art world, I'm afraid.

Yep electroglyph.... just about every image I do ends up the way you just described. The image takes over... Seems like that is the way of the art world. Lol 8)

There are 10 kinds of people: Those who know binary, and those who don't.

A whiner is about as useful as a one-legged man at an arse kicking contest.

If you don't let the image take over, i don't think it's really...art. Part of art is putting your soul into every piece, and i think for that to truely happen (for me anyways) the image just has to 'create itself.' If i don't feel an image is taking itself anywhere, i just scrap it.

Me too! I can't seem to create what's in my minds eye. I once tried carving, was making a cute little mouse, ended up looking like a pig. I love to doodle, because that is not thought out, it just flows and whatever appears on the paper is from somewhere deep inside, a lot like dreaming. I love dreams because they are not thought out or planned out the way that daydreams are. They are always a surprise! I'm a right-handed person. :-D

Whenever I was painting I'd get lost in the image, if it was going to be a good piece then I would hardly think of where it's going, just follow where the brush strokes take me. I find that it's the same with 3D art too. If an image is going to be good then it seems to come from within and if not I struggle to find the path to take. It's good to get lost in your work, I think that's why art therapy works so well for people who have mental and emotional problems, and probably why we are such a zanny bunch of people. 8) Catlin

When I do my pictures, I have an image in my head. Here is a scene of such and such with this lighting and these elements. Its not too detailed but I know when I have arrived. Have 1 picture in which I just played around and it came out pretty good. Might want to try that again sometime in the future. Am right handed.
