Well I'm a bit miffed, I went to my homepage here and the freestuff images weren't showing up, so I went to my site to check the links, and POOOF!, not there, not anywhere, I emailed my host, to find out what's up...I'm miffed because I'm paid up till 2005.....so until such time as I find out, no freestuff downloads, sorry....:( Zhann

hope your host fixes it soon. Maybe his servers are down because of the big power-failure?

Ontario and north eastern United States. Missed us here in Montreal.

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

In the US and Canada. Biggest powerfailure in human history. I heard 500.000.000 people where without electricity, but I think that's a bit much. The power generataor at Niagra falls or something broke down and 23 power stations went out in one big domino effect. Bet the Niagra falls stopped flowing or something :P

I think the number was more like 23,000,000. And plenty of servers went down after their backup generators ran out of gas late last night.

Rayraz ( ) posted Fri, 15 August 2003 at 10:00 AM

yeah, 23.000.000 people sounds lot's more reasonable to me. You know how it goes. Big things result in even bigger ghost-stories within minutes.

We got our power back early this am. Now I'm at work and they have all the lights off to conserve energy. I'm working by computer light, lol. I wish they would just close and send us home, this is silly working in the dark. Well there is some light from the windows, but we're in a cube farm and I don't have a window cube. I hear that Manhattan is still without power. We have a server connection down there and it isn't working. Good Luck Zhann, hopefully its just a minor delay type thing. Ang

Canada and the U.S. don't even have 500,000,000 people total. And only parts of Canada and the Northeastern U.S. were effected.

Rayraz ( ) posted Fri, 15 August 2003 at 4:21 PM

That's exactly why I though it was a bit much, but I knew that if I mentioned the wrong number someone would com up with the right one.

There's a rumor that a terrorist detonated an EMP weapon on Long Island, and that it caused the cascading failures as the power grid collapsed in the N.Y. Metro area. Of course it's only a rumor.

i think you may have just thrown in an extra zero rayraz, because in my local paper it was "guesstimated" at 50,000,000 ...but who knows, bottom line...lots of people without power. Hope you get it all worked out Zhann

Rayraz ( ) posted Sat, 16 August 2003 at 7:12 AM

That's probably it. 500.000.000 did look kinda stupid? :)
