It's not an easy question to answer in one sentence, but you'll need a modelling program - anything from 3d max or lightwave to free apps like anim8or. It's not so much what program you need as how much you have to learn. Everything from making the model to setting hierarchies and joint parameters, uv mapping, cr2 work, etc. If I were you, I'd look at a free app (see link) and try to make some simple props to start with. Ask questions in here as you go along and just take things a step at a time. Look for tutorials too. The top modellers here weren't born knowing how to do it. They learned by starting at the beginning. macAttached Link: http://www.bakhter.com/html/freeware/3d_software.html
Amapi 4.15 is free,wings3d is free....there are many out there...Blender...Attached Link: Cinema 4D 6 on the next Computer Arts CD October
If you can get ahold of the October issue 88 of Computer Arts where you live, on the cover disk they will have a free full version of Cinema 4D R6 CE. The only restriction is the render output format, which is meant to be around 600x400 pixel. But otherwise it works like the unrestricted version. There is a bargain upgrade price of US$99 to get a CE+ version without render restrictions and probably the ability to upgrade to version 7 or/and 8 as well.I've got C4D XL 8 at work now and it is fun to learn. There is a great community out and lots of tutorials - which I find most important for a newbie like myself. As a student you will qualify for lots of savings in getting software, most companies have special listings for students, look and ask...
