I uploaded this picture a few days ago. It is, I think, my best work so far (or one of my best) and I barely got any coments. What's wrong? What makes people view a pict and leave a comment? Anyway, could I have some feedback on it please? And thanks to those who commented on it. Josselin

Sorry I let this one get by me! Please read my comments. :-)

14 comments is not my standard of "Barely no comments"

I'm with ya there! That would be a good count on one of my pics.

Here's what sucks about when I make a picture that I REALLY like and think it's one of my best....(drum roll).... No one likes it very much. Every freaking time, I swear, lol. Everyone likes the pics I slam out complete from concept to upload in 24 hours versus the ones I spend 3 weeks on. It's a mystery. Btw, (this is not sympathy talking), AMAZING clouds in your picture, very non-Bryce like, truly sells the scope of your pic. Agent "24 hour" Smith

Mush have slipped by unnoticed. BTW 14 comments counts as a good one for me.

"Every freaking time, I swear, lol. Everyone likes the pics I slam out complete from concept to upload in 24 hours versus the ones I spend 3 weeks on." i think it's possible to overthink a piece of art. people like the little cartoons i sketch out in 2 or 3 minutes, but when i spend days on something and put in a lot of meticulous fine-line detail, it usually gets a milder reception. and i tend to agree. the quickie sketches have more life to them.

Yeah...I guess... sigh

With sketching the viewer likes to see the drawing process. If you're working on a drawing very long to make it perfect. During that process of perfection lot's of the little imperfections that give away how the drawing was made get lost.

In a sense I agree with you; on the other hand there are so many pictures that are uploaded that it's hard to keep up on all "what's new". But Like RobertJ say; 14 comments is quite a few by my standards :) I only got 3 on my last one. lol Britt

its kind of random, somtimes i get alot, sometimes a get a few, the idea "you get out what you put in" kinda applies here, but it does seem like the longer i spend on an image, the longer it goes unnoticed, but its all good.

Incarnadine ( ) posted Mon, 18 August 2003 at 11:22 AM

I tend to get between 0 and 15 comments in no correlation to the amount of time I spend on an image. I suppose that just makes it more sweet for me when someone does! (grin) BTW I loved that image and if you don't mind, saved a copy for wallpaper use. Richard

man, my records' uh..11 or so. To me, 3 comments is a lot..;) I've noticed the easiest way to get scads of comments is to post highly-detailed pictures of scantily-clad women with swords, and titles that are suggestive or double-entendres..but that's another package..;)

I think the way you presented the thumb might have been the problem. It was cropped and didn't represent just how awesome this image is.

My NVIT got 168 viewings and 5 comments! Hah, blows that theory! (grin) As some of you may have noticed I do do the occasional nude and they do sometimes get more viewings but not outstandingly. (Then again I am not trying to be erotic with them, mmmm....)

I did (as an experiment) a pic in the 'unnamed' package, with the largest uh, well, they were the size of living room furniture, and it got exactly 1 more viewing than another pic done in Bryce, with Doga (go figure..;) It's the mob (latin abbreviation for mobile vulgis, or 'fickle multitude..;)

My record is 145 viewings and 13 comments with my peaceful grave image, "Memories." The print even got great comments at an art show, but no one purchased it. I think they thought an image of a grave was too morbid to hang on their living room wall.

Thank you all for your kind comments. I really appreciated the support, and I really think this picture is one of my very best so far. that's why I was a little bit disappointed. That'll teach me to choose my thumbs more carefully I think. Cheers, Josselin

Lol my best so far was 290 viewings and only 6 comments, and that's after a few months. I thought the piece I posted yesterday was really cool but so far only 40viewings and no comments ho hum :-( Jausse, your work is good I wouldn't worry about the number of viewings etc that'll come as more people recognise your expertise and start including you in their favourites. I do think that having an established rep such as Rochr, Doublecrash, Hypeborea, makes a difference, all the people that have you in their favourites are going to view the majority of your art work. (I just need to get my work up to their standard :-)!)
