Hello to all: I am thinking to buy a computer new. What advise me? A Intel to 800 MHz or a Intel Xeon to 550 MHz.

Xeon's do not appear to be worth it. It appears to be slightly faster than the same clock speed P3, but at twice the cost. An 800 should be at least 25% faster than a Xeon 550. Or so the magazines say.

Thank Kevin. But, why precisely the Xeon costs the double to equal yield ?

It has a bigger cache and has additional logic to allow up to 8 processor systems. Basically it is designed as a server chip.

hanks Kevin. Possibly it will be thus. I believe that I go to decide me by an Pentium III, 700 MGHz , 512 Kby of cache
