Well, I thought just cause I was a hot shot Photoshop Guru I wouldn't have any problem learning Poser. So I got Poser 5 (Download version No Manual of course!) And I've been trying to figure it out. Okay so now I'm humbled and frustrated. I got the "Poser 5 handbook" that was no help at all. I managed to do a few tutorials from the help section of P5, but some of the simple things that seem to me to be basic starting points I just can't seem to figure out. For instance, I got some of Daz's backgrounds which load as figures. They are great and look really cool when I load them, but once I've loaded them I can't load a figure into the scene. I can't put two figures into a scene at the same time and I can't load this really nice hair that I got onto a figure casue it's a figure and whenever I try to load a second figure or a figure on top of background I get that great little pop up which says, "would you like to keep this figures proportions through the figure change?" And then the first figure is replaced by the next. So what's my question after all this ranting? How do you load more than one figure at a time, or add a figure to a background or add hair from the figure library onto a figure that's in the pose window. I was also surprised to find NO information about printing or exporting files. The 'Poser 5 Handbook' didn't even have printing listed in the index! I'm printing the models I have managed to create on my Epson 2200 printer directly from Poser and they are coming out really nice, but I have no control over what I'm doing. I just got lucky. Sorry I've been ranting on here, it's been a interesting experience trying to do this by myself, but I now know I need some help. HELP! Thanks

if you render in the same window, then while it's rendered go to File/Export/Image and choose the type from the drop down list.....if you render in a separate window (under Render/Render Options)then while it's rendered, go to File/Save As and choose which file type from the drop down...

to add another figure, click on the double check marks and it will say Create new Figure...you are hitting the single check mark that says change figure...which replaces the one you already have..

1st go back to Curiouslabs and get the manual. there should be a PDF manual for you to download once you have purchased. this will help HEAPS with the basics. To load a second item, be it a hair prop, a prop, another character etc there are 2 sets of check marks at the bottom of the menu. one replaces the existing item (leaving you with just the new item, the other is ADD another item and you it will show up in your scene. if you cannot find your new item say a hair prop because it's somewhere in your scene behind another prop etc at the bottom on the lft of the scene window (where you see your characters) there should be a pull down menu with item names. you can select hair and then it would be the active model that you would manipulate move etc. then you can pull down and select the model and move him pose him or her etc. all of the basics are covered very well with pictures in the Poser 5 manual. go get that and read the 1st couple of chapters and get the feel of 3d and how poser works. it will save your hair and you will become obsessed quickly. at the top of the Poser Forum here there is a link for the Poser Forum FAQ. check the link. it has many of the frequent new user questions answered in detail. hope this helps. Ask away, and have fun :)

Whoa, That is so cool! And it WORKS! I didn't even see the check marks at the bottom of the library window, I was just double clicking the figure I wanted to load! You're wonderful! Thanks!

Rule #1 NEVER doubleclick in Poser. Rule #2 NEVER use the mouse to move things in the screen, use the parameter dials instead Rule#3 Things ONLY work (conforming clothes, hair, textures) on the model that they are made for Rule#4 LEAVE THE GEOMETRY FOLDER ALONE .. but all the library category subfolders (figures:animal, figures:clothing, etc) can be moved and renamed with no problems These four rules should help a bit ..and welcome to the wonderful world of Poser Lyrra
