Great idea, Dave-So, even if I arrived at it independently :-) It seems like a good compromise. People get the audience they want without cluttering up the main forum with long post with images and the obligatory train oohs and ahhs. Plus, hopefully, it will help gently prod people into the habit of looking at the Showcase forum. There is more to forum life here than the Poser forum but too many people (myself included) have become almost agoraphobic about going outside it's familiar walls.

"It's the flood of "HEY LOOK WHAT I MADE AND IT'S ONLY 9.95!!!" ads, especially the ones that are disguised to look like normal posts." WHAT FLOOD???????????????????????? There was NO FLOOD! There were a couple of Mike 3 threads then someone started the complaint threads and it spiralled down from there.

I stand by what I said. You can make of it whatever you want.

And WHEN was Drax's survey posted? Right in the middle of the controvery. I bet if the survey were posted a week earlier the results would have been different.

ONE person posted something that wasn't even a whining complaint. The usual suspects took it from there. There WERE a couple of threads that were obviously commercial, that were posted after some of the images of Mike 3 were shown because they thought it was okay. Yes, they should have been in the PS. But, honestly, I haven't noticed an 'increasing number of commercial posts' and I'm a regular around here. The uproar that ensued was over the top IMHO. There are always 'letter of the law' vs 'spirit of the law' debates when something like this comes up. We're obviously on different sides.

You're misconstruing and making me angry to boot. I don't need your condescending repetition of what the Product Showcase is for. I already know the history of it all and the reason for the new forum. Sheesh. I never called for the rescinding of anything, and the spirit of the law does not discriminate for or against any specific vendor. What you may consider commercial I may not. It is not, as you imply, black and white. If it were so easy we wouldn't need mods to make judgement calls.

From the standpoint of being fair. If you allow people to post messages, WIP's etc.. of their free products you should also allow the postings of sale items etc.. The cost is not the issue, it is the advertising. Everyone is hung up on the cost of the items and because so and so sells their product for xxxxx amount they should not be allowed to post WIP or adverts etc.. but if so and so created the same product and gave it away for free they can post WIP's and adverts etc.. This is a double standard. Please note I do not sell items here or anywhere else on the net. Where is the list of what can and can't be posted in this forum?
