I think this will be my entry for August. I`ll upload it to the challenge area unless you can find any glaring errors. Trees and most of the foliage from the tree lab, just a few 3ds reeds. No lights and postwork just a quick dab with a glow brush for the sky plus sig.

Still havent managed furled sails. Tried lattices, painting in post and nicking them from another model and nothing works well so the story is theyve taken them to the laundry.

I`ve uploaded a larger version, where the details (and cock ups) can be seen more clearly, to my gallery.

I like it. I would add a reflection of the bird though (what's this bird called in english?) I still love the sky.

Absolutely calmful...Beautiful skies...Congratulations!!!

Ray: I would say it was a heron...looks a lot like our native Great Blue Heron. (I'm in Tennessee) It could be an egret, I suppose, but I'm going with heron.

How very lovely! Diane

Innovator ( ) posted Sat, 23 August 2003 at 2:03 PM

very nice, and a wonderful soft color pallete. I agree with the reflection on the bird and perhaps its ambience is a bit high too. Other than that, a beautiful render

Another lovely image and beautiful colours.

This is great! I really like it! But....I just had this idea of having the bow and anchor of the QUEEN MARY appearing on the right of the shot.....just the first couple of inches you understand, as if it's coming down the river...enough to make you go 'WOAH!!!!'

What you been drinking, Bryster? And can I have some. Ive taken on the ideas from Rayraz and Innovator though, tried to get a reflection of the heron and punched up the colour a touch. think it`s better. Probably upload tomarrow.

Fantastic image Sambucus. I really like this. I especially like the sunset. Swade

It's a potential winner, I think. Only thing that I have troubles seeing is the shadows. The shadow of the ship seems to fall to the left "towards" the sun. Same is true for the tower of the church. The side that is lightest is turned away from the sun. So either you used another lightsource or (and that's what it looks like) you postwoked the sun in the scene?

Kylara ( ) posted Sun, 24 August 2003 at 12:00 AM

Never mind... you used the glow brush for the sun... I should have read that before :)

Sambucus ( ) posted Sun, 24 August 2003 at 4:12 AM

Sorry to hear that, Bryster. hope my light hearted remark didn`t offend.
