I should clarify that its the Velvia 50 that is being phased out and this Velvia 100F is to be replacing it.

From what I read 50 is soupposed to stick around. In the article I read said it was to give velvia lovers a faster velvia while keeping the orignial as well. I'll find the article Monday for you, it's at work.
I will be posting a roll of the velvia 100F I shot towards the end of the week. I have to mail it to a lab and mailed back.
I have heard some say they could have used provia with the same results. So I'll just have to wait and see.. Wish I could have been of more help.
@ ratto - Provia 100F III series isn't the same as Velvia. It's a very different emulsion. I do like Velvia (50 - also III series), but the Provia 100F and 800F are far better at this moment imo, unless you need Velvia for a specific reason. But a velvia 100 sound like a really ridiculous thing imo. It's not the speed that matters, but the equipment ;) But that's a whole other discussion I guess...
Quoted from POP Photo Magazine....... "Should Velvia 50 shooters defect? They may have to----our sources indicate that 50's days are numbered. (It's virtually disappeared from Fuji's website.) But 100F may not be your only option. Fujifilm has introduced an even more saturated Velvia 100 (no F) in Japan. It's aimed at photographers who crave screaming color---natualism be damed!---and if it's a huge success in Asia, this over the top "specialty" film may reach our shores, too." Thanks for the responses....will look forward to seeing some shots form your 100F didgeriddo...and for some info from your article... @ Rork and ratto, I've never shot Provia ,may have to give it a try....

@'chelle - Haven't shot with it, but I have a friend who has. He said something like the 100F isn't as contrasty as 50, that the 100F showed much better detail in the shadows than 50 and that the grain between the two was just about equal. However, he said he still prefers the Velvia 50. Said the 100F didn't have the "Pop" that he gets from 50. I did read a short comparison on it (see above link) @Rork - I don't think I understand the "it's not thes speed that matters" sentence. Or am I missing an inside joke? :) -=>DonaldHey Michelle. I couldn't find the article. Boss must have taken home. But in frustration of not knowing and needing to know, seeing as how I loves velvia 50, I called up some customers service reps at fuji pronet. I was told they have no intentions of getting rid of velvia 50, which was music to my ears. Apparently they are getting quite a lot of calls on this from many disgruntled 50 lovers. Can we can only see what happens. Doug :)
Wonder why Pop Photo would hint around at this unless this was something they were sure of.... Wonder who their sources were. And it's good to hear that it's here to stay...I do love the RVP....

Used Velvia 50 and 100F. Used to shot with Provia 100F or NPS 160 with my Medium Format camera. NPS 160 is still my first choice for portrait. Velvia 50 is more detailed in 1 and 2 stops over and under exposition. (zone III, IV, VI and VII)where Velvia 100 is a little bit more confused. The grain is absolutely equal to the Velvia 50 in common situations. It's a nice emulsion if you need more sensibility than 50 iso.

Just curious and wondering if any of our film shooters have tried the Velvia 100F..... I'm a big fan of Velvia, but it's my understanding that they are going to be phasing it out....The claims are finer grain, and good skin tones, all while keeping that Velvia pop in saturation.... Does anyone here shoot film anymore?......
