Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 25 6:57 pm)
Hello, Here's what I've done in the past to get rid of some of the unwanted materials. If you are familiar with editing the cr2 file that is. Backup the the cr2 file you are editing, just in case. If you've changed the object file, delete the associated rsr file. Edit the file and go to the bottom where it lists the materials for the body parts - skin, eyes, etc. Delete the ones you want or all of them. Be aware of the { and } brackets. Save it. Now when you run Poser and load the cr2, it will rebuild the materials from the rsr file. The only problem I've had with this is that sometimes it puts the Preview material first in the list. Think maybe this has to do with a body part not having a material assigned to it (?) Hope this helps some. hdrider
No good deed goes unpunished ...
If you edited the CR2 to point to Millie.obj the gen texture should show up automatically. If you renamed Millie.obj to blMilWom.obj to avoid CR2 editing then make sure that you delete the blMilWom.rsr. Poser reads that and not the obj. If there is no RSR, it will make one - there will be a delay while it does. One other thing about this material: unmorphed, the area is quite small. You have to get up close and personal to see it. It maps to the morphs on Morph World as well as to Rtamesis' morphs here and with some care the two styles will work together. And to affirm what Hdrider said, if you delete the materials section from the CR2, Poser will regenerate when you next open the CR2, and only list those materials that have "usemtl" statements in the obj file. It is a way of getting rid of the duplicate stuff in P4 CR2's that retain materials from the P3 or Casual figures that the P4 CR2 was derived from. Some of the P4 files have nipple and nipples as well as other near duplicates and the one at the bottom of the list does nothing. Poser does not delete obsolete materials from CR2 files.
JeffH is right, doing just the deleting of materials left me with exaclty the same crap I had to begin with! (Hey, Jeff, good to see you're still around btw!) What I ended up doing to five different models, sigh, is Loding a fresh one using replace current character...keeping all porportions and geometry modifiers and all that. For each character, I then retextured them and saved a new pz3 (These didn't include custom morph targets) Then I converted Pz3 to cr2 and then morph managed all of their morphs over, but this would not include full body morphs. Grr. So, then I used Cr2 editor to cut and paste body definitions/morphs, loaded an empty scene and brought back in the new cr2...made sure everything was the same between old and fixed characters, and discovered to my suprise that now ALL materials were co-existing peacefully. Finally, resaved the new, fixed pz3 of basic model with added texture maps for Jaagers new uv Millie. It was a huge pain in the ass, and on one model I can't see the genitalia map at all, even though there's a genital morph there and a map selected in materials. Hmmmm... -Darth
Morph manager 4.0 has an option to do just this. If you put the character into MM and also the obj and set the preference check boxes to remove unwanted materials and add materials that are not in the cr2 but in the obj, MM will create new material entries for you and remove unwanted material entries whent he cr2 is saved. It works well for the obj/cr2 but not for the grouping option which stores geometry with the figure.

So, I've got several Millie Characters that have unique materials and groupings. Now, I've just come across Jaeger's excellent remapped vicky and have installed the obj in place of the original. Now, with each custom character, the old materials remain and I am missing the genitals material that Jaegar added. However, the nipples and lips conform to the new obj as they should. How can I restore the genitals material? -Darth_Logice
