Michelle A. ( ) posted Thu, 21 August 2003 at 11:47 AM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 12:44 PM

When we last left our list it looked something like this.... 1. Light 2. Opposites 3. Emotion 4. Rust 5. Blue 6. Circles 7. Warm 8. Hot 9. Vacation 10. Sexism 11. Surrealism 12. Enlightenment 13. Contentment 14. Outrageous 15. Laughter I've removed a couple like water (we've covered that one with this months Elements challenge, and movement was also done before.... Added the few that Donald thought up. Feel free to throw your ideas out if they're not on the list....

I am, therefore I create.......

And I'll throw my vote in for surrealism, because enax wanted it so badly last month.... :~) I think that we would have a lot of fun with that one....

Yeah Michelle! Of course my vote for surrealism too. Surrealism is a challenge in my case, and I think we can see very interesting images. This don't require a top camera but a lot of imagination... or just surrealistic nightmares :))

Akire ( ) posted Thu, 21 August 2003 at 2:46 PM

I'll cast my vote for either Surrealism or Rust- enjoy your vacay Michelle! (yea film cameras!)

enax ( ) posted Thu, 21 August 2003 at 3:01 PM

@Akire: If you write Surrealism or Rust for Michelle is Surrealism, if you write Rust or Surrealism it will be Rust. Only the first counts.

Akire ( ) posted Thu, 21 August 2003 at 3:10 PM

Ok, my offical vote is Rust (after much deliberation... should have more caffine to level out the thought process before posting....) sorry 'bout that....

I vote for LIGHT! Bsteph

fahsi ( ) posted Thu, 21 August 2003 at 4:33 PM

i dont like surrealism...mhhh light...mhh lets see perhaps opposites...that could be interresting. But whatever the result of the vote will be...ill give my best :-)

I thought of a good theme earlier this month. Can you add "Prized Possession" to the list. Think that would be cool. If we end up doing surrealism, I'd like to ask we through in the stipulation that the photo should be surrealistic and not something you've manipulated in PotatoShop to be surrealistic. :) -=>Donald

@DHolman: I agree with you, manipuled photos are for 2D or mixed medium.

I say emotion. I am having plenty right now. NOT of the photo kind. I am SOOOOO underemployed. I hate my new job. I hate life, I LOVE my wife (she is so damn supportive), I miss spending time with my camera and that makes me sad, I am worried about money and that scares me, I may never get the D100 or D1x and that makes me want to cry, I am exhausted from working retail after running corporate support departments for the last 10 years, I am depressed over all this working for a living crap, I am pissed at the US's goverment (who I blame for all this economic strife)... Yep, Emotion works for me...

TwistedMindDesigns ( ) posted Fri, 22 August 2003 at 2:39 AM

I have an idea... How about SPEED, it's not on the list but I think there is a lot that can be done with it. Sound interesting to anyone?

Even if you choose not to choose, you still have made a choice

sabretalon ( ) posted Fri, 22 August 2003 at 6:58 AM

What about LIFE. You could have several mini series to go with it; New life - Birth, buds on plants a new dawn etc.. Practical life - Day to day stuff Fun - all the funstuff some of us get a chance to do in life Ageing - the older side of life, decaying etc.. You could have death but I think that may be to sensitive and morbid. From the above list I would like to attempt most of them, I am just going through the learning phase and taking part in a challenge is one way to push yourself to achieve better work.

Novacane ( ) posted Fri, 22 August 2003 at 4:01 PM

Hey, I'm a bit new so I have to ask... do you accept photos from digital cameras for these contests? If so, I'm voting for rust. There's some decent run down looking scenery in my area. The old Bethlehem Steel Plant is nearby to....

PunkClown ( ) posted Fri, 22 August 2003 at 5:08 PM

Digital Photograhy is quite acceptable in this forum (and for the challenges) Novacane! :-)>

JordyArt ( ) posted Mon, 25 August 2003 at 3:26 PM

........Don, stop being so restrictive!!! Anyways, where would you draw the line at photoshop work? Cloning out a section is usually acceptable, but that very same tool makes surrealism easy.......... he he he I say sexism...... (",)

cynlee ( ) posted Mon, 25 August 2003 at 10:06 PM

ah, big surprize JA... hmmm, emotion sounds good to me... i'm losing my job, laid off, my position is not in the new "state fiscal budget" :p,... i have mixed emotions... planning on enjoying my time off while i can before i start to panic... i can relate to zhounder's plight... & gas is up to $1.90/gal.! think i'll just stay home awhile...

JordyArt ( ) posted Tue, 26 August 2003 at 12:43 PM
