But C3 is soooooooooo much better g ... even version 2.1 is vastly superior... but 1.1 is good for getting acquainted with Carrara's "quaint" interface. Which can confuse people strangely enough... confused the heck out of me for a while, until it started to worm its way into my brain and make some strange sort of sense. g Now I love Carrara with a passion.

It doesn't seem like that long ago I bought this for more than I care to think about...:/ Of course, I suppose every giveaway has somebody feeling that way. Computer Arts is going to be giving away Cinema 4D v6 soon, which was around two grand when it came out three years ago, so I guess I shouldn't feel TOO bad.;) But C3 does look pretty tempting. If all goes well, I might just be upgrading soon.:)

How do the Poser people look rendered in Carrara?

GabrielK ( ) posted Tue, 26 August 2003 at 5:44 PM

Poser people look quite fine actually. I believe bijouchat has some examples in her gallery. I've posted a few sample renders as well, both in this forum and in the carrara forum.

It's going to be on the coverdisc of Digit magazine #66. Check the first link for more info. If you're in the UK, you should be able to get it right at a newsstand. In the US, it comes to most Barnes and Nobles stores a month or so later. I've also heard you can get it at Borders, but there's not one of those in my area so I don't know much about that. And you can of course order it from the Digit website once it comes out, the one SURE way to get it. No catch except the price of the mag. And let me tell you, this is a STEAL! I paid $400 for it a couple years ago, and it's positively loaded with features. Also, check out 3D World http://www.3dworldmag.com and Computer Arts http://www.computerarts.co.uk for free programs, too. They have some great stuff sometimes. In fact, the upcoming Computer Arts #88 is giving away Cinema 4D 6CE, which is 6XL except for a limitation on the render size, which is pretty minor when you consider that 6XL went for about $2000 three years ago!

Actually, I see that you can actually reserve a copy and be notified when it's released without being obligated to buy it. That's pretty cool. I wish CA would do that with the C4D issue...
