This months 'Computer Arts' magazine has "Realsoft 3D 4.5 LE". The only limitations on the program, has to do with rendering. Screw the rendering, I say! What's exciting about it, is that it has the best SDS modeler you're gonna find, anywhere. There's a free OBJ import/export plugin file at: http://www.schmeling-consulting.de/objimpexp.html I tested it, and it DOES export .obj models from this 'LE' version of Realsoft 3D. It exported the geometry as quads, like it ought to be! Sombody here, that's smarter than me, should be able to quickly figure out the import/export settings needed for making Poser morph targets. Realsoft 3D also has pretty much all the other types of modeling, too. (Analytic, NURBS, Metaball, lattice Mapping) It's organic modeling with Subdivision Surfaces, that really shines with this program, tho. It blows Max and Lightwave Modeler into the weeds, as far as ease of use and modeling speed. It's pretty easy to learn, too. In related news, a number of European computer mags is featuring Cinema 4D 6 ce on their cover CDs, which is a variant of V6 XL with max render size of 600x400. So it should work well for modeling, and the upgrade to the full XL version is 99 Euros.

Is this a Win-OS/PC app only?

Yes, PC-only according to the liner. I'd ignored it, thinking it wouldn't have any exports. The magazine does say it is limited to rendering 30,000 facets, as well as the VGA-only limitation.

I take it 'this months' is August?..now I really feel silly; I was looking for the Cinema 4d, which is next months..;) picked it up, put it down..havta go to their web site to make sure, I suppose.

Actually there's another issue between this one and the Cinema issue - it's actually last month's if you are in the UK (#86).

ooh, the demo is only for 30 days as opposed to a LE.

RealSofts workflow is pretty hard to get use to. I've used it before, and I ended up ditching it 'cause I couldn't stand the workflow. ~EA

Which issue(s) have the Cinema on the cd? Month/Issue numbers. Just went hunting for that one, as I thought it was out. But just found this one with Realsoft, which is 86, so I checked out the website, and issue 87 has no mention of Cinema on it. Hrm...

The C4D Computer Arts is the next issue in the UK, no. 88, October.

It is the latest issue - 88 is due on sale 4th September, they're just plugging it hard.
