Subject: A response from techsupport@curiouslabs.com on Bryce Plugin.

Bellow is the response from techsupport@curiouslabs.com on Bryce on my request for a Poser-Bryce Plugin. Hello, I have no information regarding Corel's plans for future developments with Bryce. It is my understanding that they just announced that they are dropping support for Bryce on the Mac, so frankly that doesn't necessarily bode well for the future of this application. For information regarding other Poser plugins for professional applications you can inquire with Reiss Studio. (http://www.reiss-studio.com/)They currently have plugins for Maya and 3DStudioMAX. Word is they will be developing a plugin for either Lightwave or Cinema4D. It might be worthwhile to inquire about a Bryce plugin. There could be a potential market for them, as I help quite a few users with Poser/Bryce compatibility issues.

Corel was sold last week. It was dying and now it's dead. Best bet - Get Vue

It isn't final, but only one more hurdle to cross. But that doesn't mean Corel is dead. Nor Bryce. They just haven't decided what to do with Bryce yet. (1) continue to develop it themselves or (2) sell it Though pz3 import into Vue is killer, it's not too much more difficult to get stuff from Poser to Bryce with Grouper. In my experience with the two programs, if you don't want to touch anything once the Poser stuff is imported, it's dead easy in Vue. If you want to fiddle materials after import, it's easier in Bryce.

For anyone using P4, it's easier not to bother with textures in Poser at all, and just apply them in Bryce.

I'm not a guru, so I may be wrong, but i wish that daz or curious labs would purchase bryce so we could pose people right in a landscaping application, what an awesome piece of software a poser or daz studio-bryce combo

Dirk5027 Back in the days of Metacreation. Poser and Bryce were made by the same company and actually intended to be used together. Ah, those were the days. Curious Labs is doing a great job with Poser inspite of all the criticism, and Maybe just maybe someone will read this and CL will buy up Bryce and we can do a Snoopy dance. (Dancing baby Dance?) Heck let Microsoft buy both. Now that's opening up a new can of ..........

Problem ist that if Corel waits too long to reanimate Bryce it will be really dead because the other products like vue are too far away from it then and the costs to make Bryce a competitor again are gigantic. My idea was to make a pluginenabled and scriptable Bryce 6 standard with all that is yet there streamlined and bugless and a faster renderin engine as a plugin and the old there for compatibility too but speeded ab as good as could be. And then create and sell additional functionality as plugins for it and let thirdparty companies program such too with a good sdk. That is better als to create the overthetop 3d app that that will be never there because of the costs. Think about that: Better working standard treelab as we have it yet. And a treelab pro with flowers and such as plugin to buy if you need that. If Corel really likes to make money again they should think about such concepts, they work. Thomas
