THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: 3 Questions ???

kiwi_gg ( ) posted Wed, 27 August 2003 at 9:16 PM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 2:11 AM

Truespace 3.2 is available free, fully working version from Caligari. Is it compatible with bryce and worth having?

Alternatively is there a plug-in deformation tool available for Bryce5?

Failing either of the above, recomendations for a good user friendly modelling program that is free or cheap.

Cheers
GG

look in the software forums here for wings3d, real easy to learn and free..too boot .

"Reinstall Windows" is NOT a troubleshooting step.

Any 3D modeling program that exports to OBJ, 3Ds, DFX LWO, COB (or many other formats ) can be used with Bryce. The only plug-in support for Bryce is for editing images in the Terrain Editor and Image Library. Which are PhotoShop compatible filters and effects. There are many free, or cheap modeling programs available. Here's a good place to start. http://www.digitalartlinks.com/links/3D_Programs/

Truespace 3.2 definetely compatible with Bryce, (see link). Wings3D looks cool too, we got some people here doing some cool stuff with it.

Where did you see that Truespace was available free? Could you post a link?

kiwi_gg ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 5:51 AM

You can do a search of Caligari's site or I found it thru this URL http://planit3d.com/index.htm

Sorry but I could'nt get copy/paste to work so you will have to type this in yourself.

The free modellers that are most often used in combination with Bryce are Wings, Truespace and Amapi. They're all worth trying. Wich one you like best is up to you to decide :)

Truespace, Amapi, etc., occasionally crop up in British Mags like Digit, Computer Art, 3d World I think either Carrara or Cinema 4d's coming out in September (Oct/November for folks on our side of the pond...dangit..;). I should make a plug for Anim8tor, available in the Modelling forum, even though I've been using Wings constantly..;)
