What the best stuff you bought at poserworld? I all ready have a membership with DAZ platinum is poserworld is it worth it?

dialyn ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 4:32 PM

Yes, the subscription is worth it....and you don't pay extra through the year. So you can take as much or as little as you want for one price. You get regularly issued new stuff for a wide range of characters, high quality clothes and models and backgrounds and sets, and you get access to their amazing archives. It is the best investment I've made in a long time. They do have a page where you can look through the archives before getting the subscription. Browse through. But I'd highly recommend it. Absolutely.

100% worth the cost. New stuff every week plus all the old stuff. Lots of scenes, Tons of Clothes

When V3 came out-- Steve was there with the most stuff for her-- and it was not fetish, it was actually usable. Waitresses and scrubs and office wear and shoes. You can show him a picture and he'll make the outfit. Micest guy. It'll be the same when M3 comes out. Is it worth it? Depends of the utility of sliced bread, I guess.;)) Emily

It is a great deal, clothes for everyone, props, scenes,P5 clothes, he is great about doing request. 20 reviews all good and 1... well, who would thunk ;)

lhiannan ( ) posted Fri, 29 August 2003 at 12:53 AM

Most absolutely yes. If you're going to have any Poser subscription, PoserWorld is the one to have.

HaiGan ( ) posted Fri, 29 August 2003 at 2:19 AM

I liked it so much that I went for the lifetime subscription. There's a ton of textures for Poserworld stuff made by other people, too.

Mesh_Magick ( ) posted Fri, 29 August 2003 at 2:30 AM

I think they could update more often. But yes I agree, tons of stuff clothes textures models you name it.

Staby ( ) posted Fri, 29 August 2003 at 2:31 AM

It is definitely worth it! I too hope Steve Shanks is a beta tester, so we subscribers to PoserWorld will get a lot of usable clothing items (not only fantasy stuff) real soon, like when V3 came out.

jjsemp ( ) posted Fri, 29 August 2003 at 2:38 AM

Poserworld is updated CONSTANTLY. So constantly that I gave up months ago trying to keep up. Good thing I'm a lifetime member. -jjsemp

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Fri, 29 August 2003 at 2:42 AM

I wonder why Mesh Magic HAS to be negative about EVERYTHING. sigh must be unpleasant to be that way. PoserWorld is frequently updated. At least once a week, and in periods even more. I'm sure Steve is busy making stuff for M3 as we speak. He has been somewhat "sloppy" regarding his FREE stuff recently, but the things in the subscription area are updates just fine.

EnglishBob ( ) posted Fri, 29 August 2003 at 3:34 AM

The big difference with PoserWorld is that Steve really (deep down) wants to be running a free site, as PW used to be a couple of years ago. The money is a necessary evil to pay for the bandwidth. So, at the risk of repeating what everyone else said, you get more stuff than you can carry, requests... If you only get one subscription, it has to be PoserWorld. I renewed mine despite being unemployed at the time it was due. :)

Ms_Outlaw ( ) posted Fri, 29 August 2003 at 3:45 AM

Finally broke down and just bought the lifetime subscription after paying for 2 years. Should have done it in the first place. ~G~ I agree the quality is steadily increasing and the updates often. More then enough to keep me happy.

Yes, yes and once more yes. (Ok Steve, now can I have a nice belt for that P4 woman? ;) ) BonBonish

bijouchat ( ) posted Fri, 29 August 2003 at 5:50 AM

Poserworld is worth it, completely and totally... There's an incredible wide variety of stuff and its updated regularly.

steveshanks ( ) posted Fri, 29 August 2003 at 6:12 AM

thanks everyone, if you could see me you'd see the blushes :o).....your right about the free stuff, partially my fault and partially coz we had to reduce the regularity of the updates coz of the bandwidth (everytime we update it ruins the other free sites, different server from the subs site) but i'll make up for it i hope ;o)....Well i kinda used to Bob (well still do to a certain extent) but one thing i've discovered the last few years is it doesn't matter about the price, if folks pay they want good service (which is fair IMHO) so you have to start thinking like a business (which i'm not to good at LOL) and finding ways to improve things...with that in mind i like to think we listen to the members and implement there suggestions, trouble is not everythings possible...can't please all the people all the...etc etc ;o)....and i must confess i'd like to dump the day job and do this stuff full time one day but NEVER at the expense of Poserworld i just enjoy it to much to make any drastic changes in that area ;o)....Steve

estherau ( ) posted Fri, 29 August 2003 at 6:28 AM

My favourite things are the scenes. It's worth it just for these. Love esther

I add another yes. All these peeps above are on the ball.

Sambucus ( ) posted Fri, 29 August 2003 at 10:05 AM

Dont want to throw a dampener on things here but I have an awful lot of trouble with the files from Poserworld. Like most people, I guess, when I joined up I d/led a load of stuff right off and I had 64 corrupted files. I have since changed computers and O/S yet I still have this probem. The latest is the Wisconsin soldier obj. Ive tried all the suggestions in the FAQ. Tried 3 different unzippers. Still no luck. My Poser and Bryce folders total just under 25 Gb, so I d/l a lot of stuff yet never have this problem elsewhere.
Just as annoying is, when I try to email Steve from the site, it bounces.
Nobody else has this problem, apparently, but I am a little suspicious that file problems feature prominently in the FAQ.
Having said that, Ive just renewed for another year. The stuff I do get is well worth it and I use it regularly in my Bryce work. Its just so annoying when a model I want is on the site and it won`t unzip correctly.

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Fri, 29 August 2003 at 11:05 AM

Sambucus, do you use any download managers? Is your connection "flakey"? Do you have this problem with other sites too? Do you get large files with errors and small files without errors? I'm not saying you haven't got a problem, I'm just trying to find the cause :o) My only "problem" with PoserWorld are that the paths are missing in the older stuff. I personally HATE to manually place files in their folders. But other people prefer to place files where they want them, so...

It's worth it for just the V3 clothing alone IMHO ;o). Laurie

steveshanks ( ) posted Fri, 29 August 2003 at 11:42 AM

I bet your on Cable Sambucus?...not sure why it happens mainly to cable users but the last one was because of a port on his ISP (uk one)...its not a problem we ignore though we've implemented code to stop isp's cacheing the files which reduced the problem a lot but some still do cache them and well there are so many reasons out of our control its hard to track down why it happens..anyway mail me here poser.world@virgin.net and i'll mail you the obj back....Steve

ronstuff ( ) posted Fri, 29 August 2003 at 1:46 PM

Just in case armitron is not yet convinced, let me add my UNQUALIFIED YES!! to the stack. In the whole Poser world you will not find a better deal than at POSERWORLD! I can't imagine anyone not being happy with it unless they are confusing PoserWorld with some OTHER subscription sites. I'd also like to thank Steve for continuing to work so hard to make it better and better all the time!

ragmanjones ( ) posted Fri, 29 August 2003 at 2:23 PM

PWFW is a great deal. I'd likely renew quicker if you gave a substantial discount to renewing members. As it is now, money is tight. I am still not convinced to spend money on the DAZ Platinum club.

KarenJ ( ) posted Fri, 29 August 2003 at 2:37 PM

I was thinking about getting a sub a few months ago, but then I fell ill and money got tight : Money is still tight, but I'm really tempted. Anyway here's the question: If I buy a 6 month sub (which is all I can afford right now, and that's stretching the budget), do I get access to everything that I would get if I bought a longer subscription? (Of course, I realise that when the sub runs out, then I wouldn't get the new content unless I renewed. But I could still have access to all the CD content?) It just seems like such a good deal that I'm going "Hey, I can't be reading this right!"

steveshanks ( ) posted Fri, 29 August 2003 at 2:57 PM

Thanks Ron :o)....problem is Ragmanjones we are as low as we dare go, we have to be sure to keep the income matching the outgoing (T1 connections) or we could end up living in a cardboard box LOL...the only way to give a big discount to renewing members would be to put up the new member fee, but then you risk losing new members and ...well you get the idea, its a fine juggling act :o).....you get everything Karen, but no cd with a 6month subs you need to go annual or life for that...with that in mind i'd go for a 3 month one and see how you like it;o).....Steve

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Fri, 29 August 2003 at 2:57 PM

Yup, Karen. All the previously released stuff is yours to grab. But you better have cable or you'll never get it all downloaded in 6 months ;o)

I do have cable, yes :-) And I'd probably renew after that, I just can't afford the higher price right now even though it's better value (don't you just hate that?) Wow, now I just need to prise the credit card out of my husband's hands, heheheh...

Okay , I followed all these rave recommendations and took the plunge early yesterday morning with a credit card order. Received a receipt and notice that access wil be manually set up. That was almost 24 hours ago and no luck so far....am I being too impatient?

Sambucus ( ) posted Sat, 30 August 2003 at 5:26 AM

Thanks Steve, I`ll mail you. I am on cable. Blueyonder.

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Sat, 30 August 2003 at 10:58 AM

KyReb, I know the feeling. I'm impatient too. I THINK it depends on Allen (or maybe Steve) being online at the moment you sign on. As far as I remember I got in pretty quick. How did you pay? Credit card or PayPal? If it was by Credit card it MIGHT require some checking? (I don't know since I allways use PayPal)
