THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: I have only a couple weeks left!!!!

brholte ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 3:30 PM · edited Wed, 25 December 2024 at 10:49 PM

Well, I just thought I'd share with everyone that in a couple weeks, you won't hear a word from me for 18 weeks!!! I have some training to do (in the U.S. Navy) and then I'm off to who knows where for 3 years. But hopefully I'll be up and running in my new home in about 4 months. Just wanted to thank everyone in this forum for all the support and techniques you've all shared. I don't know if I'll remain sane without bryce to relieve me of stress for that long, but there's one thing I know for sure.......I'm counting on having PLENTY of inspiration, and new ideas with my travels, so when I return, you better be ready!! I suppose I'll have time to do one more image before I sign off for a while, But, sincerely, I really enjoy this forum and all the members who contribute to it. best of luck, brholte (Benjamin Ross Holte)

Ah...hate to see you leave for any amount of time...but, enjoy your time away from the computer, lol. Try and come back and visit ASAP! Where are you going for your basic? I can't remember where my brothers did their basic, but they were later stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. AgentSmith

I go to the Chicago area for 8 weeks of basic, then it's to San Antonio for 6 weeks, then to Conneticut for another 4 weeks. After that I have no idea. I hope to go overseas however. Japan would be very cool. That is my #1 wish.

pakled ( ) posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 4:10 PM

hmm..sounds like the 'brown shoe' part of the Navy to me..but you can't talk about that..I'm sure..welcome to the '.mil' part of the internet..;)

Yeah, after asking...my brothers did their basic in Chicago, then one did another training part in VA, and the other in CA, then they both worked at the same hospital in VA. They were Medical Corpmen. (I think that is spelled correctly) Japan would be righteous! AS

Good Luck Ben.... My brother has been in the U.S. Navy for just shy of 14 years and he loves it. He has been all over the world and really enjoys learning about the different cultures he encounters. Get a laptop so you can still do some Brycing. Then when you have an internet connection at your disposal you can post multiple WIPs..... 8) lol Hope to see you back here in the forum soon. We will miss your company. Wade

Sounds one hell of an adventure. I know a few people in the Australian Navy, and they love it.

Best of luck to you in the Navy. Training in San Antionio huh ... too cool. I grew up in San Antonio. As Zhann, the river walk is a cool and neat place to visit, the Alamo is in downtown SA too. There is El Mercado (Mexican shopping) near the river, shops all along the river and LOTS of very good eating too, as well as some decent bars. If you like jazz, there is Live at the Landing on the river as well. Lots to do and see and eat and drink .. and ........ LOL I feel a road trip comming up. yeah yeah.. I'm proud of my home town. btw I now live about 4 hours from there, college station. have fun and enjoy. regards, bob

Wow.... what a great response! ICM- I'll be sure to contact you should I get the chance. And, I thank everyone who showed their support. It's very much appreciated. LOL @ packled..... the 'brown shoe' part of the navy, I think that's more associated with aviation. I'm sure I'll get the chance to post here after basic. I've had three older brothers, and one older sister who have either gone through some branch of the military, or is still serving, and they were able to write VIA email, so no worries there. thanks again, brholte
