Read the rules, got confused. Making Bolean objects are ok, right? Or "you can only use Vue d'Esprit primitives".

Can't participate, reserved to Vue4 owners :=( Yves

Hi Alekssander That means only items/objects created "IN" Vue can be featured in the contest image. As in: No Bolean objects created in Bryce No Figures created in Poser No Postwork - The entries must be Pure Vue! Hope that helps :) ladynimue

So that means yes. Thought so, just did the first big testrender during the night. It's pure vue. YL: No vue4 yet? Can't get it?

Thanks ladynimue:-) Yes, Alekssander, booleans are primitives too, or at least made from primitives. Yves, sorry, but if you were a winner of Mover 4, you would not be able to use it, because it doesn't work with Vue 2:-). On the other hand, Vue 2 has no planets (Moon) included and as you cannot use "moon bitmaps from outside" on a sphere you have to use obligatory the Vue Moon from the planets... Guitta

Not directly contest related : I upgraded to XP recently and my Vue 2 was not working anymore. After some days to think about, I decided to buy a Vue 3 version secondhand (found 1 for 60 euros on internet). Now I'm Vue 3 user ;=) (with mover included) with the manual which is very very helpful During these last days, I was playing with UV mapper and I understand better this wonderful and simple soft. Any objects, any texture can be created ; thus, moon is really easy to create in .obj and uvmapper Maybe for an other contest... Guitta, I'm glad you are back !

I don't think I've ever run into a software company that tries to limit its users so much. It's Eon's contest and they can make whatever rules they want, but spending so much resource time on importer's for Poser stuff and then not being able to show it off seems kind of silly to me. And even for IOD submissions you can't have any postwork? I usually at least equalize all my images, no matter where rendered. I don't understand why. 'To show what Vue can do by itself' is rather pointless since artists use whatever tools they desire for the outcome they want. I think it's just as important to show what artists using Vue can do. Beautiful landscapes with no signs of life? Then we may as well all switch to Terragen.

Spit: Not everybody got Poser, Photoshop, 3ds max and so on, and not everybody got the knowledge to use them either. It just wouldn't be just(the only word I could find in the dn, fear, fare ,feer, you know what I mean). The winner could easily just import everything and just use the atmosphere and rendering in Vue. Would that be Vue or just? Any artist need to be flexible and use whats avaible. Vue got Boolean, and it works lovely. This isn't about the artist, but what an artist can do with this specific software. :) sorry about any errors:)

And not everybody has the knowledge to construct out of primitives. Not everybody has the knowledge to create good materials inside Vue. Is that fair? It really has nothing to do with flexibility. Is there anyone you know who is looking for a job that requires them to use Vue, with no imports, no picture textures, no postwork? I think they're afraid they'll only get naked Vicky's in temples or something.

Lol. It is a contest with and about vue, not poser or anything else. It would be the same as taking part in a 3ds max contest, and use Maya to do all the modeling but do the render in 3ds max. Do you realy think you would have won that contest? Vue is play and fun, that's why people use it. And that is the reason why we know how to construct both items and materials. Not because we "work" with it. Got all the "goodies" to do that :)

Anyway, the responsible of a contest chooses the rules. Some gifts are offered for winners, that's why the organizer has some view on the rules. If he chooses not allowing object import, that's his right. That's not easy, but you can create lot of things in the terrain editor. The idea of seeing what people can do whithout importing external stuff is very nice (the artist is obliged to be more creative) . The same for postwork, we already had lot of discussions on that in the past : - pictures with lot of postwork are beautiful, and they are of course art work. But if there is too much postwork, how to see the Vue work ? My 2 cents, Yves

This one is really more of a challenge than anything else. I am finding it very difficult to come up with a scene that fits the criteria and look good because I rarely use the included items or textures anymore.. However, I am looking at as a challenge of my skills and perhaps I may learn a new technique that will better the rest of my scenes.

It is kind of like the show Junkyard Wars. You only have what they give you, no trips to Home Depot for parts. :)
