well, I have a 15gig hard drive and I have used 3.51 gig of it....I have Final Fantasy 8 for pc installed and a few other things... will Poser take up a tremendous amount of space? I also want to know if I need any sort of other graphics program? I heard alot of people have Photoshop, but is there anything you can download for free or buy for alot less thats just as good?

How much room depends on the install settings you use and how much you add later.I did a full install and have been adding stuff for about a year.My Poser folder is about 795 meg right now. That is including some very large files that I added.I new install of the program should be less than 100 meg. With a little over 12 gig left,I wouldnt worry about size right now. As for a good graphics program for less money, try paintshop pro.It is shareware and cheap to register.I havent used it myself but I hear it is as good as photoshop.I have photoshop and it wasnt cheap. Many photoshop plugins also work with paintshop.

Paint Sho Pro is not shareware. It is, however, an excellent graphics application at a reasonable price. You can download a fully functioning, time limited, demo from the Jasc website http://www.jasc.com The price for the registered version is about $110.USD and comes with all the goodies and excellent tech support. PSP 6 is the latest version. Jasc is currently running a public beta testing of PSP 7, due to be released this fall. If you buy PSP6 now, your upgrade will be free. THose who already have PSP6 prior to the public beta release can get the upgrade for about $40.USD Casey

795mb is that all...LOL Well I'm up to about 970mb. But I got an external 20 gig hard drive to hold a lot of the 'other' stuff. :) BTW, CD, thanks for the advice, I'm getting closer to the answer.

You may not beleive it, but with all the work I do with Poser, and all the .pz3 files I have stored I am up to 4 gigs for Poser.

Heh. I used to have an 8 gig drive w/ four partitions. One partition had Poser and another w/ data files (final PZ3 files with final TIF/JPG renders, incremental saved PZ3's, experimental renders, experimental textures. etc.) Eventually, did drive backup, re-partition, and data restore. And then later, un-played games uninstalled, some files tranfered to other computer, and w/ the latest Partition Magic 5, did a partition merge. So now, that 8 gig drive has 2 partitions. A 2 gig partition and a 6 gig Poser partition. Hmmm, I wonder how long before I set that into an 8 gig Poser drive. :-)

LOL The basic install of Poser isn't too large - with the HDD space you've got it'll be no problem. As suggested above, it's the marvellous textures, superb figures, and excellent clothing and props you'll soon find yourself downloading that eat up the HDD space :) Paul

Ok, being semi-serious mock gasp, within a week, i had 300MB in textures, OBJs, morphs, and other things that crash Poser when i load it (j/k :). Just as a heads up... but as stated above, its no real concern for you personally. ..->[ aMP-3 ]<-..
