I have a new image in the gallery that gives an "Interesting" ranking on the thumbnail and an "Excellent" when the image is shown. All the people that have ranked until this was written have said "Excellent" within their comments. Is there something funny going on with the ranking system, or is there a ranking mistake.

Hi scada Try to refresh your browser. I just took a look through your gallery and could not find any of your images that had "Interesting" as the ranking. There were some hic-ups in the Ranking program - but the programmers have been working around the clock to correct them. ladynimue

Actually, I just checked my most recently posted image. Four people had kindly posted an "excellent" ranking, but when you see the thumbnail in the gallery, it says "Needs Touch-Ups." I am certain that this isn't the result of trolling. I'm familiar with almost all of the people who commented, and I know they wouldn't play childish games. Having read ladynimue's advice to Sacada, I checked using both Netscape and IE ... same wrong ranking. Sort of a drag, because a false negative ranking like that will discourage views. Sorry, but the hiccups aren't past tense. Looking forward to seeing this fixed. It's not fun being insulted by "improvements." :-)

I have found another incident with an image by BountifulKnight where there was a 'Great' and I gave an 'Excellent' whereby the main image came up as 'Excellent' but the thumbnail came up as 'Needs Touch-Ups'. Same problem. One thing that is worth checking from a database point of view is the filter of a zero or null ranking. This is a common oversight where the nulls are being filtered out but the zeros are not (or vice-versa). So if someone re-comments and changes their vote to say 'No Ranking', it is different to the original default 'No Ranking'. Just a guess, as I don't know how your database is constructed. Typical of me ... now I feel badly about the cynical quote marks I used, above. I sincerely appreciate Renderosity staff, and am sure these problems will get ironed out.

The problem is still there. I now have two images with "Excellent" as the rating on the full size image and "Interesting/Needs Touch Ups" for the thumbnails. I can only imagine this glitch is driving you far more crazy than it is us. Be encouraged. I'm sure you will figure it out. Thanks for all the hard work you put into this community. In the meantime, a little humility won't hurt any of us :-)

You're not imagining things, xonocostle. I checked your gallery and I see the problem, too. I just posted in the back room to say the glitch wandered back in and gave one of your pictures as an example. Tommy is probably taking the weekend off, so it may be a few days before he squishes the bug. Sorry for the inconvenience, Cres BTW: I really liked the "Birds of a Feather" image. The coloring really caught my eye.

Another one showed up, "goodbye" by Richard T has excelent when you look at the pic but "almost there" on the thumbnail.

Thank you Crescent, I sincerely appreciate it. Unfortunately it's also happening with another pic I posted to the Vue d'Esprit gallery last night. Hey, you could do worse than "interesting," LOL, but in fact the viewers who offered rankings chose "excellent." What did I do to offend the Universe? (kidding...)

On Xonocostle's picture (not the one in the Vue gallery..don't think I commented on that) I submitted a comment but forgot to do the ranking. I'm always doing that :( So I deleted my comment and did it again with a ranking the second time. So that might be a clue to what is happening. It's all my fault :( LOL

That's awfully nice of you Spit, thank you. But you know...I think I'm going to disallow ratings from now on.
